Um, repair his leg ... Turn a poor old fatty away who has done no mortal being any harm ... Now the question must be begged, where will the line be drawn, ref NHS treatment? Who decides? Who should decide?
:(

Im only generalising but ‘fatty’ self indulgent, ‘bomb victim’?

Do we consign all 'self indulgents' to misery then?
I guess the NHS would have about 3 patients in that case.

Anyway, here is a decision made, rightly or wrongly ??
...Yesterday, Lambeth Council withdrew its invitation to him to switch on its Christmas lights in Streatham, South London...

Wrongly - In such a multiciltural area they should clearly be called 'Holiday Lights' to avoid offending any Lib-Dem councillors.

As to the other bit, probably correct, all things considered. I guess that you want your light turner-onners to be, on the whole, good people, so in the scheme of things:

Having your leg blown off and not grumbling too much about it - Good. Inspirational
Wanting money for it - Not so good, IMO, but seems to have captured the public mood.
Gang-rapist - Bad. Probably outweighs the good.

Sorry PC prik but this is Britain and no matter what race you are you are in a British way of life and a British way of life they are called xmas lights, they have never been called holiday lights, they are called xmas lights because in a Britain culture thats what they have always been called

Can you explain why you think British people have to alter their way of life to suit others who have come to Britain tempory or permanantly in order for some silly bozo idealistic rubbish spouted by some silly airheaded dummy like yourself or those councillers.

Sorry - I should have used more smileys to make it clear I was joking (though I thought the use of 'Lib-Dem councillor instead of Muslim made that clear, myself).......

They should be called Christmas lights because "xmas" could offend scabby people who are dyslexic

jumped the gun again hey freddie. what is a british way of life?were do you live? would you agree if a load of english take a piece of land and call it british does that suddenly become the way of the land?

I've never figured out how the abbreviation "Xmas" came about.

Surely that would be pronounced "ecks-mas", or "cross-mas". Neither of which is anything like "Christmas".

I'm with Margot Ledbetter on this one. ;)
