The Petition to cancel the Labour Government - result

The ability to petition the government is something we've had way before Elon bought Twitter as well you know.

Why do you fear the people having a voice?
Its an amazing feat of deception when people are selective about which democratic decisions they accept.

Ultimately social media will be the downfall of this Government (and the next) .......... not the outlets generating nonsense but posters sharing their thoughts and anti Government sentiment growing. It'll be like rolling a snow ball down the hill - it'll just get bigger and bigger

20 years ago Governments could suffer the ups and downs in the paper based press - but not now

Yes it was the remainers who wanted to do that regards the referendum result I seem to recall.
Remoaners simply pointed out that if you decide to sell your house in principle and then get no decent offers the sensible thing is to withdraw it from the market, not to say we will sell it for nothing unless we can get a bad deal

There were petitions to change the result of the referendum. One was 'Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.' It is still up on the government website albeit closed. My point is that petitions do not change the course of votes but that they do provide a useful insight to see the strength of feeling in the public regards certain matters.

Thanks, I didn't know about the Brexit one. Does that mean that twice as many people were against Brexit as don't like Labour?

so do polls

every single major poll for voting intention shows Labour ahead

I thought their honeymoon would last a bit longer. But I guess people didn't switch from Tory to Labour in their masses, rather the Tory vote was split Reform and Lib Dem.

Labour are 1pt behind Reform.

There was never a proper debate about the terms on which we left the EU, more a right wing torey power grab, using brexhit and no deal as an excuse. Staying in the trading bloc was always an option.
