In the US the Republican states are net receievers of Government Aid, yet the Republicans win on making their lives even harder because they sell to them the idea we will make the lives of immigrants impossible and that's whats happening with Brexit.

Bodd et al will accept all the economic misery as long as some unknown eastern European life is made impossible or they return home -for them it's worth it as these EU foreigners need to be forced out.

The reason you dont care is because of choice supportive bias:
