The stock market.

There's no point drilling any more holes because the planet has run dry ...
Ah but if enough holes are drilled that they join up with each other then we could get from A to B quicker using less fuel!

They will:

From the Times.

"More than £30 billion was wiped off the value of Britain’s biggest companies yesterday as new levels of hysteria in the US banking crisis fuelled fears about the economic and financial fallout on both sides of the Atlantic."

Not sure if companies are that bothered about their share value dropping? It doesn't make any difference to the performance of the company just its paper value to others, Its the shareholders that lose out.

the directors and executive management of the companies will be worried, because they will be losing profit on their stock options; their share-price-performance bonus, and, since the shareholders won't like it, their jobs.

However, dividends are holding up well since the profitability of most companies (not housebuilding or mortgage related) is unaffected.

Despite Joe's opinion (and that's ALL it is chaps) nothing is happening now that has not happened before many many times ... It's called ... Business.

Don't get drawn into the murky depths of Joe World or you'll all end up as sad, miserable and depressed as he is.

Why worry about things you cannot control ... Wait and see what happens ... The basic tenet of stress management ;)

The way Joe is going he won't live to see if his prophecy is realised

It's being realised daily. It will happen overnight if Fannny and Freddie go belly up or Iran/Israel exchange more than words. Over the next 20 years oil production will continue to fall and that means that economies will shrink (recession). Oil will never be back in bountiful cheap supply - so the good times will never come back. There is no replacement for oil. Never has been - never will be. That's fact - not opinion. Prepare for war and poverty. There's an iceberg out there if you look. Mega and John simply choose not to look.

Whilst I can't speak for John, I prefer to live my life to the full and not worry about things which may or may not happen and which I cannot influence one way or another.

And, if I did feel the need to worry, it would be based on my own judgement of the situation not the ramblings of a manic depressive on the general discussion section of a DIY forum.

Just like I said - you'd rather not look at the storm clouds drifting our way.

The storm clouds are only coming in the mind of a manic depressive on the general discussion section of a DIY forum.

Lets all blow & blow the storm clouds away. Big deep breath ready steady go..If we all blow at the same wind turbine we could save a barrel of oil. ;)
