You cannot expect English people to learn a language they may never use. Spanish or French may be useful.
Holidays in Spain one year, Hungary the next, then Greece.

It is just a fact that other peoples learn English to communicate with everyone; not just the English - or Americans.

That's just the way it is. You are lucky - be grateful instead of hating foreigners.


Of course people from Glasgow and Newcastle might have to learn English.

Yes - all the British who hate foreigners.

I'm sure they exist, but I've yet to meet someone who hates foreigners.

Doesn't really matter if you do learn it, most people will probably not get to use/practise it much, and will promptly forget most of it anyway.

I still remember a lot of my O Level French and German even though I have never really used it.
People are different, I guess.
