I used to have a SAAB with proper bumpers, big FO rubber things, which did the job. If you hit a bollard or something you didn't do thousands of quids worth of damage like you would on many cars now. The bumper took the hit, not half the car. It would dent, then the dent would come back out before your eyes. Volvos were the same.
I had the SAAB, those bumpers were great. You could use them to be push started, or to push start another car without damage to either car. Loved it, it felt so right on the road, except for taking one particular slip-road at speed - it would take off, going over a particular bump.
Those early USB leads - oooh don't get me started.
Horrible things, big, awkward, and a 50/50 chance of plugging in the right way up. I mark them with Tippex, on the top, to avoid the guessing.
