Latest update....my friend got a letter from EDF saying they'd carry out the sweating of an earth to the cable for £70. Doesn't seem unreasonable, though, arguably, why should the consumer pay?
However, my friend is concerned by a clause in their 'conditions' for carrying out the work which states that gas and electricity meters must be separated by a flame retardant (or flame proof) barrier/enclosure/wall. In his basement, the two meters are on opposite walls, about 5 feet apart: does anyone have any experience of this kind of pre-condition? Is this separation in the regs somewhere?
Any info much appreciated
