As is evidenced by his low vote, TR is a fringe character. He got way more press coverage than any other fringe "activists".
Here in London, the Animal Welfare Party, for example, had 6 candidates. I don't recall them being mentioned at all in the press, nor the 8 members of the Women's Equality Party, nor did the 11 independent candidates. I would have imagined that many of those candidates who have policies aligned with the loony left. And since when was the press overwhelmingly left wing? IIRC the Sun is the best selling newspaper and the Mail online the most visited.

The bloke is a muppet, albeit one who has managed to make a decent income playing the "blame evry 1 else card". The hard and fast reality is that of the 5 million people that could have potentially voted for him, only 38,000 chose to- that means only 0.8% of the NW population actively supports him. 92.8% of the population of the North West decided not to vote for him.
Doubtless, once the money starts running low he will jump back on to the "who will save your kids from the muslim pedo[sic] gangs?". Completely side stepping the fact that he has previously defended the characters of a number EDL associates who were eventually convicted of paedophilia.

In short, if you want to stamp out child abuse, you really shouldn't associate yourself with someone who has a history of attracting sickos to his campaigns. I can only imagine that some of the people that jump on his "won't somebody think of the children" are people who want to get to know those children a bit too well...

True but the knuckle draggers refuse to accept (read: admit) that the EDL are racist, and how could they be? The EDL had a Jewish arm, a Sikh arm and even a LGBT arm. Granted, to the best of my knowledge they didn't have any members of those "arms" though.
