It was cool outside yesterday, so I nudged the heating on. Come 4am it was 18C outside according to my weather station and even warmer indoors. It woke me up, so I decided to get up and take the dog for a walk, me just wearing a T-shirt.

The walk took me along a local private road (unadopted), which reverts into a public road the two sections of the road separated by a kerb across the road and those black and white wooden posts. Still dark, the street lights were on and what I noticed was that the public street lights and the private road lights were all the same.

If the road wasn't adopted, why would the council have installed lighting and I assume maintained it?

I don't usually go wandering around in the dark, but I was quite surprised at the sheer number of badly aimed PIR's being triggered as I walked past the ends of the drives and flood lighting coming on.
