I'm getting more and more convinced that the tories are deliberately handing the next election to labour on a plate, and are setting up as much mess as possible for them, in the hope that the public will blame them for the inevitable ****storm they'll end up with.

The end result they're hoping for is that labour will be booted out for another decade or two, one-party rule due to the tories making labour look even worse than them.

Liz Truss WAS intending to reduce everyone's bills, but only by handing billions of government money to the energy companies. Which is what happened anyway.

Yeah I reckon they're promising any old sh1t now and tbh it's a win win for them. If they win the next GE, they don't have to bother delivering half or more of these changes. Let's face it, what's the ratio for governments when it comes to promises/pledges vs what's actually delivered to completion. And if they don't win the next GE then as you say it'll be over to Labour.

When you actually sit and watch/listen to politicians of all parties, jeez it's depressing stuff.

The prime minister has hinted that Nigel Farage could be welcomed back into the 'broad church' of the Conservative party – only for the former Ukip leader to say he was not interested. Farage has been conspicuous at the Tory conference in Manchester this week, where he is broadcasting for GB News, including joining a singalong with Priti Patel on Monday evening. Farage was a Conservative party member but left in 1992 over the signing of the Maastricht treaty. However, a possible return has been mooted since Brexit...

He'll be in the next leadership contest.

A party that chooses Johnson as its leader has no respect for truth.

Farage has stated that the tory party's finished and he doesn't want to be leader.

It's possible that he could lead a breakaway New (Old) Tory party though, with perhaps half of the MPs leaving to join him. That could get interesting.

More plausible given all tory mps who have conspired too thwart Brexit in the party.

He hasn't got the makings of a party leader.

His latest vehicle is not a party, it is a company.

This prevents the membership having any say.

I don't get this it all - thwart what and how?

What is the Brexit you understand? A rocketship to the moon?
