TRV vs Room stat

God I'm tired of repeating myself....

ADL1B

"the installation of an appliance with an efficiency
- not less than recommended for its type in the Domestic Heating Compliance Guide" - Controlled Services 35

"The procedure approved by the Secretary of State is set out in the Domestic Heating Compliance Guide" Controlled Services 37

So...... what have we learnt....
The building regs changed in 2006 and brought in ADL1a and ADL1b which are BOTH the APPROVED DOCUMENTS which must be adhered to.

These new approved documents are more strategic in nature and rely on 'second tier' documents to provide detailed information on the minimum provisions necessary to comply with the requirements of the regulations.

So in final conclusion..... its clear to see that these documents rely on further documents to detail to requirements of the regulations.

End of.

Why do people who have no knowledge of the heating industry, let alone the regulations, try and argue with those who do.

Because if they didn't, the dictionary would have to be adjusted by deleting the entry: "prat".

Goldburg posts his nonsense on a regular basis and gets exposed as a fool at pretty much the same frequency. Not that long ago he tried Agile on for size arguing a technical issue, he'd be the first amateur to succeed in doing so; gives you an idea how delusional this character is.

Alas all has fell silent from GoldBerk..... obviously not even google could rescue him

Sorry to keep you waiting - I was out mending more heating systems.

Flattery will get you nowhere.

That you're incapable of reading The Building Regulations ?

The building regs changed in 2006
I don't think they did. Can you see any reference to any change in 2006 on this web site:
http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/england/professionals/en/1115314112742.html

... and brought in ADL1a and ADL1b which are BOTH the APPROVED DOCUMENTS which must be adhered to.
Quite possibly, as long as you don't mean "are legal requirements" when you write "must be adhered to".

These new approved documents are more strategic in nature and rely on 'second tier' documents to provide detailed information on the minimum provisions necessary to comply with the requirements of the regulations.
None of that has anything to do with the following question:

It is under the building regs
Are you able to say where in The Building Regulations it states that a room thermostat is mandatory?

So in final conclusion..... its clear to see that these documents rely on further documents to detail to requirements of the regulations.
Since you find it clear, you should find it easy to state which section of The Building Regulations refers to 'these new approved documents' (sic.).

Oh P1ss off you moron..... go stick your head in the hadron collider..

Took you a while to Google all that didnt it..

Building Regulations apply in England & Wales and promote:

Standards for most aspects of a building's construction, including its structure, fire safety, sound insulation, drainage, ventilation and electrical safety. Electrical safety was added in January 2005 to reduce the number of deaths, injuries and fires caused by faulty electrical installations.
Energy efficiency in buildings. The changes to the regulations on energy conservation, into effect on 6 April 2006, will save a million tonnes of carbon per year by 2010 and help to combat climate change.

Apologies I should have used the word 'amended' not changed.

And of course they are legal requirements you ignoramous.... do gas safe or building control officers know you're out there??? Better suited as a farmer with all the ****e you spread.

Listen you clown, follow this logically..
1) ADL1a & 1b are part of the building regulations
2) They CLEARLY state refer to the 2nd tier document for SPECIFICS
3) Within said document it states Room stat must be used.

Gawd help us all, and gawd help all who use this wally.

Look I dont care if you agree or not.... I'm yet to see ONE person back you up on this gobby.... why? Cos you are WRONG....

Bugger off back to the 3 billy goats gruff troll[/quote]

I can't see which part of my post you think came from a Google search.

Either word will do, but I don't believe that there were amendments to The Building Regulations in 2006.

1) ADL1a & 1b are part of the building regulations
Only in your world.

2) They CLEARLY state refer to the 2nd tier document for SPECIFICS
They can clearly state what they like - they aren't statutory.

3) Within said document it states Room stat must be used.
Since the document is not part of the legislation, that isn't a legal requirement. While fitting a room stat is likely to improve the prospect of an installation satisfying Part L1 of The Building Regulations, it isn't the only way of satisfying L1.

Look I dont care if you agree or not.
I haven't disagreed, I simply asked you a question that you were unable, or unwilling, to answer.

I'm yet to see ONE person back you up on this gobby.... why? Cos you are WRONG.
Really? A lone voice is always wrong? That's some strange logic you're using.

2) They CLEARLY state refer to the 2nd tier document for SPECIFICS
Dave,
Though he had no clue about this at the outset of his endeavor to vomit yet more nonsense on this forum, he is simply saved by the bell when it turned out that the specification about what is required is in a document that is separated from the building regs in order to facilitate updating it, rather than the actual building regs themselves.
For people like you and I, it is matter of semantics, to a troll it is obviously utterly important.

True Ben.

I just wonder when he sticks to 'core' documents only and does not deem to refer to the references that are clearly advised to, what he does in the case of the GS(I&U)Regs when it refers only to 'an appropriate fitting'

How does the troll know what this 'appropriate fitting' is???? Guesswork???

No, its not part of the Building Regs is it?
Correct - it is not part of The Building Regulations.

If you had read page 3 of your beloved Approved Document, you might have noticed this:

Approved Documents are intended to provide
guidance for some of the more common building
situations. However there may well be alternative
ways of achieving compliance with the requirements.
Thus, there is no obligation to adopt any particular
solution contained in an Approved Document if
you prefer to meet the requirement in
some other way.

I'll repeat the most important part, in case you missed it:

The Government said:
there is no obligation to adopt any particular
solution contained in an Approved Document if
you prefer to meet the requirement in
some other way.
