yes boys i have my part L and gas safe registered . All i was wondering if a customer didnt want a stat then are they in there rights to not have one even if i told to have one . the old couple say they only going to have the heating on 2 to 3 hours a day.

Yes you need a roomstat on all installs unless you are installing something such as wc which gives greater efficency than a roomstat.
Not having a dig rosie but its a pretty basic question , id look over your part L notes again and refresh your memory! Its also better to ask these questions in the Combustion chamber, an area for Gas Safe Registered ( and ex ) only

It's their house and if they don't want one why should you risk losing the job for refusing to comply with their wishes? Bollix to part L in that situation sez I.

Any installation has to be legal . If the customers subsequently remove the stat, then that's up to them, but it's not up to a pro to agree not to comply with the regs

Unfortunately you are in predicament,and will have to talk the customer around nicely to having one a boiler interlock has to be fitted to be compliant with regs
When i had my inspection from gassafe he checked the correct fuse was used,the condense pipe was fitted correctly,all rads had trv's apart from he one where the thermostat was fitted
Now thats GSR can and pick jobs randomly to inspect you dont want the hassle of them picking out faults in your work otherwise the inspector will be on your back

Can't see why you can't get an RF one installed, which doesn't have to be in any fixed place and will give some degree of control over the system. Seems a happy compromise
Meanwhile in the real world...
They can only check the ones you tell them about. Simple remedy, don't tell them about the dodgy one with no roomstat. The world won't end of you don't.
That's as maybe, but now he knows what he can do.

So in you walk and do it the way they want it.
