I have a new super build docters and dentist surgery.
Opened this year its fantastically modern.
Yet they can't fit me in to see my docter. They want to farm me out to another practice after hours service.

I say there is no rush book me in when you can. But they can't. Somethings wrong

A mobile phone is an incredible lifesaver when you are out and about.

A mobile phone relies on a radio signal believe it or not there are still many areas that cannot receive the radio signal in this Country, it also relies on the strength of its internal battery although the battery can be boosted if its making an emergency call it would be useless if its totally flat.
When you are indoors, in an emergency, do you always know where you have put a mobile down
at least with a hardwired phone one does not have those sort of problems .

I'm aware of the merits of both and I have both. If I had to give one up though, it would be the land line in an instant.

Which would you least want to have in an emergency at home as your only way of making calls - a non-working mobile phone, a non-working cordless phone, or a non-working hard-wired phone?

Why would a hard wired phone not work in an emergency ?

there is more chance of a mobile or cordless phone not working .
Living in a rural area I have all three options, cordless phone only works in certain rooms (depending on thickness of walls, Stone) Mobile works if I go into the Garden and climb up an Apple Tree
Cant remember the last time the hard wired phone didnt work .

We have a classic Viscount BT semi hard wired ( white plug on the end) In this case semi hard is quite effective.

My in laws lost their hard wired connection several occasions for days at a time despite being on a emergency pendant system, due to the ineptness of BT to action a repair, when they did it took three visits to replace a drop cable, so it does happen
