Unidentified cable at front of house

Yeah this is where we've got to! If they are indeed Rediffusion cables, I have no use for them, can they be cut off safely?
Basically no, if by any strange chance anyone further along the road is still using the service that would cut them off
Looking at the photos the OP posted in #19, no, they look like telecom cables,
I thought we were still responding to #19, viz:
No worries mate I appreciate your responses! Yeah both neighbours have that access panel/plate but no visible cables entering and exiting at the bottom like I do. The thinner cable you mentioned is chopped off. It looks like a coaxial cable judging by the end that's exposed.
Which in my opinion is a fairly normal VHF cable TV system of the 60's/70's. I know of one still in place and running and included in the leasehold nature of a housing estate where no aerilas/dishes are permitted and still enforced by notification they will be removed if still present after 14 days and the last I knew such action was followed with a fee of £300.

#19 goes onto.
I have no idea where that other white cable goes - on the other side of the wall of that white cable indoors there's a blank plate with what looks like phone cables inside - the metal mechanical protection seems to have been wrapped around one of the lugs on the back box!
The white cable, beside the bin, looks like a typical BT underground SWA cable for the phone line, the internal joint seems to confirm that.

I hope that clears up the confusion.

Thanks @SUNRAY I appreciate your input!

I think the safest thing to do is leave them where they are and ask the contractors to be careful when digging up the drive to do what they need to do.

Everyone's input is very much appreciated, so thank you. Hopefully this post might help someone else in future!

I was trying to decifer the letters and numbers on your Rediffusion box.

And failing miserably!
