Use sound bomb and old mains unit to make a loud door bell?

Thank you, sounds about right. Think I will have to abandon this idea of using a sound bomb.

So, would I be able to use the bell out of an old telephone, what voltage do they work on?

Telephones use 70V AC for the ringer, iirc.

What about one of those truck reversing siren/alarms? Available in 12 or 24 volt. They make a lot of noise but not enough to perforate your eardrum like that sound bomb thing
