Ok, come on ... builders and associate trades parking all over the pavements to'ing and fro'ing for breaks and lunch .. in mobile sheds, except most are little more than rubbish dumps inside.
I guess there must be too many reliefs on all this crap, too easy to own and park in residential streets ... What a cost humping a tonne or so of rubbish everywhere one goes without the slightest need.. then parking it outside a neighbour's house.
I bet no one in Govn has hooked onto this, Kyoto be bu##ered, insulate your home to n'th degree while the 'tradesmen' waffle into their mobiles riding around in their white dustcarts... burning exhorbitant amounts of fuel for naff all reason except idleness !!

I have a neighbour who parks a giant Iveco van in another neighbour's allocated space... one of those super-long, super-high-top ones that is about the size of a small lorry.

Still, it could be a laugh... if I have to park in my space (if I can't park on the street) then he can't actually move the van. There hasn't been a situation yet where he needs to move it after I've parked, but quite frankly if you buy a vehicle you should make sure you have the space to park it first.

I've said it before: why don't town planners take into account van owners and introduce secure van parking depots? That way they could give fines to those who park vans in unsuitable places (narrow streets, short driveways overhanging the road), and those who buy a Transit when they only really need a Kangoo would think twice.

those that buy transits do that so they dont have to buy french motors ?? are you saying we should all buy froggie motors SHAME ON U please dont say ok then buy a connect ? as they are made in turkey

if you have a uk built motor good on you if not then why not

I'd have you rip off merchants back on shank's effing pony .... How can there be so many vans with about 5 apprentices being half trained each year !!
Ah, I know, one supervisor per 1000 workers... he has the non-responsiblity ... My bro in law, car dealer come property developer was admitted into the NHBC ... He didn't know a trowel from a no.10 coal shovel ..... Still, if we get rid of the lot then crime will climb.. So tis a social service really. :D :D :D

Whats your problem pipme? Is there a point to the ranting?

I guess the meds are running out at the Old Moaners home ...

Can I just point out,
that the van drivers of the UK are more inclined to be safer drivers ,FACT

recent AA reports show that they are not all headcases an bishbosh "loadsofmoney"merchants ,in London maybe..

but I can assure you my vans an drivers are very particular about looking after the works vans ,I have not had any lads (an Girl )drivers being done for speeding or accidents ,

we did have a bump last Jan, where a young student in a new Ford Modeo shot out of a side street in Heaton Moor,
an ran in the side of one of my lads stationary van waiting for the lights ,

D*&khead was on his mobie quick sharp as my 2 lads got out of the van shook up ,
ringing ,Police,Ambulance ,Fire (an Air /sea /rescue , coastguard , S.A.S ...etc ..lol)
he was screaming he was the hurt innocent party ....when the Plod came after the ambulance ,an fire engine , were there he was being BOLL**KED BIG STYLE by the medic an fire officer ,lol

He was then cautioned an arrested by plod for careless driving an wasting police/Fire/emergancy services time ... because he was from a snobby area an well to do , he thought as many do ALL VAN DRIVERS ARE MANIACS..
Any way it went to court ...
as the Magistrate said in his court appearance
I had to attend as the CPS wanted me to show that my Drivers had no Driving convictions !

It wasnt a bad day there actually I saw an arsonist in another court get 18 months ...a flasher get 14 months probation , a car theif get 36months ...

"You have come to this court told a pack of lies ,you have tried smear this mans firm, his driver.....
I believe you are a competant lier an I will sentence you to 3 years probation ,an you must take you driving test again , you must also pay cost to Mr "moz" an all court costs ....

CPS told me to bill him ,I put in a cost of 3k for van damage + 1k for lost work an 1k for driver trauma .. =5k
as his "daddy" was at the court , he paid the damages too Cps there an then after the shame his stupid kid had put his family through ...

So before making widely deranged statements ALL VAN OWNERS ARE FECKLESS LOONIES...please remember that we NEED the van an we do take care of them (an lovingly too !!),an as for being bad drivers if we lose our licence ,most guys are up s**T creek arent they ..

I certainly wouldn't say they are all feckless loonies. HOWEVER, a few weeks ago I was waiting to turn right on a local high street. The transit that had been parked to my left with hazards on started to pull out (as in, into the side of my car). I tooted to let the guy know I was still there, he got out and started yelling about "can't you see my effing indicators?!" (remember he had his hazards on before, so if he HAD changed them I wouldn't have seen), and refused to give a sensible answer to "Can't you see my car?". So that's one feckless loonie.

Van drivers need the van? My neighbour with the Iveco used to tow the exact same trailer with a SWB, low-roof Transit. It appears to be one of those trailers you see serving hamburgers at the market. Now, have market goers suddenly started eating their own weight in fried meat products every time they go to the market? I doubt it. Nope, he obviously got a good deal on it, or found the residuals are better. However, he didn't consider the fact he doesn't have anywhere to park it. If that's not feckless...

Not crazed .. you lot are towing around 100's of kilos .. stuff you may vaguely want to use .. or perhaps off load. All for the want of spending some of the profits on storage/workshop, and some sensible planning
You arguing with that oilman? One hell of a lot of useless, wasted energy, hauling junk all day every day.
;)

I know anyone can park on a public road as long as they have a RFL and park legally, but nevertheless, this p*sses me off.

My neighbour's daughter has been parking her car outside our house (half on pavement too which I detest), so when I get home, I park the company Connect outside her gaff. Sometimes the Mum's car is outside ours, too, which I can't understand as their drive is invariably empty...

Anyway, the other morning I left for work at 6.30 and found that she had squeezed her motor in front of the van, and left a gap of 120mm (yes, I measured it!!) Behind me was her neighbours car, 111mm away..

I considered waking her up, but decided to show her I wasn't bothered by her childish antics and shuffled my way out bit by bit.

Still wondering why she continues to park outside our house when there is always space outside hers. Mine is not to reason why......

I don't argue with the waste of energy, but it's possibly less than the waste of getting to a job, 10 miles away, and finding you need something you have left in the store, so you have to go back.

There is plenty more waste going on, and it's from lots of pointless leisure journeys which could have been done without altogether. Not to mention pointless food like biscuits and ice cream, the huge quantities of alcohoilc drinks consumed by irresponsible gits who have to get to their drinking hole by motor vehicle. Tossers who want peas in December, so they are moved by aircraft thousands of miles away.

The huge wast of energy involved in PVC window frames when wooden ones would do just as well and without the disposal problem.

The ridiculous distances people travel to work everyday, dozy parents doing the "school run".

So there you have some of the waste. Now what is your problem?

At least the school run is a social business... Grown ups could choose to travel at other times .. And whilst doing so, not needlessly transport huge amounts of kit.
A van full of muddled equipment piled haphazardly one on top the other, says plenty about the owner and his thinking .. should I expect more from the guy who quotes the 'regulations' then flaunts them when he feels like it ??
A proper business footing. .. No more of :-
..Transportation handling more than once, unnecessary moving or handling . Inventory, unnecessary materials in stores.
Motion - movement of equipment or people that add no value to the product ... Don't spend hours on mobile phone when on clients site
Get into '5S 5C OR "CANDO"'
Learn from your little Japanese friends...Here
The S's of 5S are originally Japanese words. Sort, Straighten, Shine, Systemise and Sustain (Safety if you want 6 S's) have been commonly adopted in an attempt to find 5 meaningful English words beginning with S.
CANDO refers to Cleanup, Arranging, Neatness, Discipline and Ongoing Improvement but is fundamentally the same.

Get into it boys ... Companies have spent zillions going down these paths .. there's money in those S's..

Is it? Parking during the school run isn't
Brand new commercial units on a school road with 4 parking bays for the units on this road, directly across one of the school entrances. Every day around three pm two hotemetooties think they own the whole street, commercial units and all of the parking bays and park their cars directly in front of the bays, regardless of any cars being parked there at the moment or blocking the path of the local bus.

Kindly asking doesn't help, placing little notes under their wipers directing them to a brand new car park with 15 (mostly empty) places doesn't help (have to walk 50 meters more!).
Yelling helps!
School run = asocial business

(Rant over)

Your business is in the wrong place then.
I do agree people in this country have poor manners regarding parking, but maybe they mete out that which they receive.
Yes the school run is a social activity, placing industrial units next door to a school surely is criminal bad planning .. which we are also good at.

I recently visited a friend at a relatively modern private estate, a 2.5 metre drive to the garage... containing, yep Brits again, piles of rubbish.
3 and 4 bed houses, some extended to 5 beds .... road about 2.5 car widths, hence unending stream of vehicles parked either side of road half on pavement.... We continually accept and buy into poor quality and lives what a gullable bunch of twonks we are !!
:D
