Your business is in the wrong place then.
I do agree people in this country have poor manners regarding parking, but maybe they mete out that which they receive.
Yes the school run is a social activity, placing industrial units next door to a school surely is criminal bad planning .. which we are also good at.

don't agree there Pip (as you might have guessed):
schoolrun: only twice a day, customers coming all day long. New car park included in planning, parents have to walk a bit further, that's to much to ask them!!!!

We agree my little sapling !! .... But you should have seen the parking problem coming ... Get the clampers in.
Or, be crafty, hire a couple of clamps, shove a notice up ... plant two vehicles in the spaces, clamp them ... role play a big bust up over the clamping whilst the loathsome parents and their brats are emerging from their 4x4's ... Bet they steer clear then !!
:D

Well, in fact I have more problems with their attitude about 'owning' the whole street, than I have problems with them blocking everything for 10 - 15 minutes in the afternoon. (one of the reasons we open after 9.30 am, so as not to have this 'frustration' twice a day :D
And the local warden is on to them

I am surprised such things are allowed to happen: If I was a town planner and a developer came up to me and said "I have this chunk of land. I can afford to build lots of units with just 4 parking bays", I would insist that they build more parking in the place of one of the units. Same with houses: If you build a 4-bedroom house, it is almost certainly going to be bought by either

a) A family, in which case they will have at least 2 cars
b) A higher-income couple, in which case they will have at least 2 cars

So why do they build them with just enough parking for 1 car each?

My middle school (built in the 19th century) was on a residential road. The chap who lived directly opposite the school used to come out of his house almost every morning to shout at people who parked outside his house (not across his drive, literally just on the road but in line with his house!)... What did he expect? He bought a house opposite a school! That's like buying a house on an A or B-road and then complaining the traffic is too fast. Although, of course people do actually do that  How many of you have found your old 60mph journeys are now 30 or even 20mph for much of it?

And then there's the people who buy under the Heathrow flightpath and then complain about the pollution and noise.

I live opposite a school and my (retired) next door neighbour gets up every morning just to move his car from his drive out into a road-spot at school-time.

When I retire I'm gonna lie in til 10 every morning.....

Sorry Adam, I've only talked about the 4 bays of the main road, 2 bays belonging to one of the larger units, 1 each for the two smaller units. The second larger unit has 2 bays of the road (on the same 'track' that leads to the entrance of the domestic houses on the estate with their own parking in a little 'square' and also leading to the brand new 15 spaces car park which the developer had to provide for the village.
So all in all the village has ended up with more parking places then before (only it's about time the council signed0posted the new car park!)

Me too... but only so I can film myself making sweet love to the grandmother of my grandchildren. Then I'll play it back on a big screen visible from the street so in future all the schoolmums are forced to take their children to the pedestrian-only entrance round the other side, vowing never to drive down that road again.

Yeeha, grandma!

Empip, do you actually work for a living or simply a professional whinger?

I drive a Van, a VW Transporter, and it is FULL of tools except for some fixings and the odd electrical accessories for emergencies and some cable. 85% of the space in the Van is tools, and these I use daily.

I pay Tax to drive on the road, average about 100,000 miles a year and pay a huge sum of money to the treasury in fuel duty, and I pay a darn sight more income tax than many people, probably you too...

So when I want someone like you to talk rubbish about something you clearly know little about, I'll ask, till then I suggest you keep your middle class, sat on your arse, never done an honest days work in your life attitude to yourself.

I presume that you also subscribe to Liberal Nimby Monthly too.

Next time you need some work done in your house, rember to ask the trademans to walk to your house...Fool.

100,000 miles a year
Blimey, we are talking taxi driver mileage here, that is 273 odd miles a day 365 days a year, every single day, that's carrying a vanful of kit to the extreme... say very unlikely av. 50 mph 5.5 hrs per day travel ... That's a lot of travel time, I do not envy you having the stress of all those miles before raising the pliers in anger.

Next time you need some work done in your house, rember to ask the trademans to walk to your house...Fool.
I have adequate off road parking, which any tradesman working here is asked to use, and very pleased to be able to do so. You would love to work for me .. No fear of your travelling workshop come stores being nicked.
Agreed spec. when delivered, paid on the nail no nonsense.

No fool like an old 'un matey, we all do and say foolish things from time to time.

pay a huge sum of money to the treasury in fuel duty, and I pay a darn sight more income tax than many people, probably you too...
And that gives you no more rights than any other citizen .. You know that... I hope you do pay more tax than I, in fact I pray that you do.. You could never afford all that fuel if you did not.

I still reckon I am right, too much stuff being transported unnecessarily, people only do it because they can ....

So when I want someone like you to talk rubbish about something you clearly know little about, I'll ask
I better not hold me breath then.

Be lucky ... and lighten up, I am surprised at you rising to the hook !!
:D :D :D :D

I had a HARD day.

My average day is 14 hours long 9-12 hours working, the rest driving, it can get stressful.

I do pay a lot of tax, but I am also able to right off a lot of expenses against tax too, as I am self-employed. However, last year I wrote of some £28K in expenses and still paid tax of £35K @ 18% = £6.3K, and this doesn't include VAT paid to the treasury too, although that generally balances out pretty well.

Up early .. I like that ! Best part of the day, before the ar se scratchers emerge.

:D :D

I know anyone can park on a public road as long as they have a RFL and park legally, but nevertheless, this p*sses me off.

My neighbour's daughter has been parking her car outside our house (half on pavement too which I detest), so when I get home, I park the company Connect outside her gaff. Sometimes the Mum's car is outside ours, too, which I can't understand as their drive is invariably empty...

Anyway, the other morning I left for work at 6.30 and found that she had squeezed her motor in front of the van, and left a gap of 120mm (yes, I measured it!!) Behind me was her neighbours car, 111mm away..

I considered waking her up, but decided to show her I wasn't bothered by her childish antics and shuffled my way out bit by bit.

Still wondering why she continues to park outside our house when there is always space outside hers. Mine is not to reason why......

We have similar problems where we live. Vehicles obstructing footpaths, cycle paths, etc. whilst driveways remain empty. Is it arrogance or ignorance? I have sent photos to the police and the council but without result (the council isn't surprising as our 'local' councillors live elsewhere!) but the police should enforce the law. We had one woman park her car opposite our drive (very narrow road) then walk to her house in another road! I caught her one night and pointed out the difficulties she was causing, she didn't say much but stopped obstructing the drive.

i would have cut her car in half or at the very least poped the tyres and windows :D

I once pointed out to a chap that he had been parking his car in my allocated space for months. He shrugged and said "When I bought my house up the road, the previous owners told me this was general parking" Wonder if he would be able to sue them for this

'half-inch' some roadwork signs from another county and shove around your 'plot' whilst away ... mind you, they could mess up that carpet overnight. :D :D
