Veritas 8 Alarm - Blue strobe outside even when unset

OK - if I was correct, I have tested both of the spare red wires in turn but to no avail - the blue strobe still shows once per 8 secs.

New bell-box time?

You need to put the spare red in strobe terminal front bellbox,at the bell box to be honest if your up at the bell remove the strobe wire in the bellbox if it's still flashing new bell box, if it stops when the wire is removed replace it with the spare red wire .

Had a crack at the front bell-box but unfortunately it was up higher than we could safely reach with the ladders.

I was able to remove the metal cage from around the bell box (of course, the very last screw would not come out and had to be drilled!).

Even though the panel was in hold-off mode, the alarm sounded immediately as I removed the screw on the left-hand side of the of the bell-box (even though I got the missus to turn the strobe test on and off 3 times in the first 30 seconds as suggested elsewhere). She even typed in the engineer's code but still the alarm didn't silence (though to be fair, she was still in the test mode menu so it wasn't taking the code as a pin).

The terminals came in at the top but were out of safe reach - they were also obscured by a clear plastic cover (presumably to keep the weather out) which I wasn't sure how to remove.

Replacing the cover and screws silenced the alarm again.

Going to do a bit of manual reading and get some longer ladders before having another attempt.

2 points if there is an issue with the bellbox the hold probably won't work as the strobe is running ! The plastic terminal cover clips out ( use a small terminal screwdriver to the left or right of the cover)

Ok - thanks for the tip of where to unclip the terminal cover.

Is there any way of disabling the bell box itself once the cover is lifted (is there a battery or some other power source it uses)?

Success!

I bought a new bell-box in the end and this weekend, thanks to some longer ladders, I successfully removed the old bell-box, disabled it and fitted / commissioned a new Texecom Odyssey 1E.

Connected the cables at the bell-box and put the battery jumper to the 'on' setting.

Flashing green left LED only, no blue strobe - excellent I thought.

Went down the ladders, into the control panel and connecte the other end of the cables - green rapidly flashing LEDs (expected as I read this is when the unit is coming out of hold-off mode back to an armed state).

A few minutes later - flashing blue strobe again; heart sank - the new bell box probably wasn't needed afterall (my fault for skipping the step below).

I renembered what you said about the spare wire - went back up the ladders and took the black strobe cable out at the bell-box - blue strobe went off.

Changed the cable over for the spare wire (had to strip the cable up the ladder with the alarm going off next to me!) and replaced the terminal cover + bell-box cover.

Went back to the control panel and worked out which spare cable was the corresponding end.

Blue strobe not showing anymore!

Used the test menu and confirmed the strobe comes on when requested and goes off when you turn the test off!

Finally reconnected the other bell box and tested strobe + bell functionality working as expected.

Performed a full set and test and all working as expected :D

Very pleased with the result - the new bell box is definitely far louder than the original too which is a bonus + I have another for Soares and repairs too now :)

Just wanted to also take the opportunity to thanks you both SO much for your help and assistance to diagnose the problem - well beyond the call of duty for a forum (amazing forum by the way); I couldn't have done it without your assistance :)

Thanks again for your help - it has been massively appreciated!!
