Washing Machine Problems

I found this in the manual:

"Spinning starts late or the machine does not spin ● The electronic unbalance detection device has cut in because the laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. The laundry is redistributed by reverse rotation of the drum. This may happen several times before the unbalance disappears and normal spinning can resume. If, after 20 minutes, the laundry is still not evenly distributed in the drum, the machine will not spin. In this case, redistribute the load manually and reselect the spin programme."

Maybe I just have to stop assuming that the machine will spin automatically after a wash, and, if I find that it hasn't, rebalance the washing and rotate the dial if necessary.

In which case, running the machine empty obviates it being a problem due to an imbalanced load. What happens if you try to run it empty, does it spin?

I had to go out before the maintenance wash ended. But the dial finished between H (spin) and J (dry) which suggests that it did spin.

Doing a regular wash now, so more suspense for you.

OK, it seems that the spinning function isn't working. I just timed it and it lasted two and a half minutes, which was a lot less than I would have expected, but apparently is normal https://homex.com/ask/how-long-is-spin-cycle-on-washing-machine. But I believe that the setting on the central dial is the speed in rotations per minute. I have it set for 850, and, what it actually does seems to be more like 100rpm when I watch it. The clothes are dripping wet after this. So it looks like that is the problem.
