washing machine motor brushes this may help.
By all means check the brushes, but this is a classic timer / programmer fault on that era of Zanussi made machines. It does the initial slow spin but then goes straight to off. Used to get exchange units from EMW but I think they have ceased trading.OK, it seems that the spinning function isn't working. I just timed it and it lasted two and a half minutes, which was a lot less than I would have expected, but apparently is normal https://homex.com/ask/how-long-is-spin-cycle-on-washing-machine. But I believe that the setting on the central dial is the speed in rotations per minute. I have it set for 850, and, what it actually does seems to be more like 100rpm when I watch it. The clothes are dripping wet after this. So it looks like that is the problem.

Now I have the problem of getting rid of the old machine. The council no longer runs a collection service. Any suggestions? Looks like I might be in for a bill of £50-60 to get someone to take it away privately.
They have a small amount of worth, in scrap metal...
