Hi all

Paving was put down many years ago and looks like the yard was lowered due to damp issue, there is always water concragating and when it rains the water never washes to the drains causing issues in the dining room and kitchen.

I decided to take up the slabs and there was puddles of water underneath them and what appears to be clay bed, i have dug a trench around the outside and planning installing aco drains, the gully is currently too high, is this easy to take out and replace or would you suggest something different?

It does look like there is enough tolerance on the gully to reduce the height so first you need to see exactly where the outlet heads off to. Expose a bit deeper around the pipe and from there you should be able to work out how much lower you can go with the gully.

@DAZB

I think im near the bottom, as looks like it bends towards the manhole which is pretty much direct infront a few meters.

I feel abit out my depth if im honest.

Stand back and take some wider pics please. Include the roof, gutters, downpipes and drains.

Where do you think the water is coming from?

im not 100% sure but the 2 trenches i dug along both the walls keep getting water in them.

Does the house have drains near that wall?

Or water pipes?

Is the water soapy? Or clean?

Do you ever get wild tomato plants?

Is it worse after rain?

Or after you've had a bath?

i dont have any pipes on that wall but next door does but on the other side of neighouring wall, i checked and they dont have any wet concrete or flags near that downpipe though.

its cleanish, not soapy, but looks like its a little murky, ill try take some pics of the water. They yard is all patio slabs so no plants

there may be a leaking pipe in the ground, it's quite common. Hence the need to see position of gutters, pipes and drains.

And the position of the manhole too please
