Georgia’s Republican governor, Brian Kemp, insisted on Tuesday that the 2020 presidential election in his state “was not stolen” in an apparent defense of the latest criminal indictment of Donald Trump.

Kemp, who has clashed frequently with the former president over his false claim the election was rigged, responded on Twitter to an earlier post on Truth Social from Trump announcing a press conference next week at which he promised to present “irrefutable” evidence of fraud.

Truth-to-Power@theGuardian

His 'irrefutable' truth will be a dog whistle for the MAGA faithful and a smokescreen to Democrats seeking to neutralise this Agent Orange before its toxic influence corrodes next years electoral process.
I read an op-ed in the Times, and several in the Guardian, that say all these (91) indictments are making him stronger but the alternative is much more damaging. Failing to prosecute Trump will damage American democracy and change global opinion on how America leads 'the Free World', while autocracies gain strength from the disarray.
Ironically, i think the RICO indictment stands the best chance of successfully prosecuting the ex-president. He acted like a mob boss and now a law specifically designed to bring them to justice will be the one to put him away.

Trump has an unhealthy fascination with violence. He lacks impulse control and empathy. He revels in cruelty. He compulsively lies and exhibits traits of malignant narcissism. He is a confirmed sexual predator and misogynist. He has a tenuous relationship to reality, and increasingly retreats into victimology and a persecution complex.

".....recent studies show that Republicans are as much as 8.5 times more likely to both believe and share fake or false “news” with others than are Democrats. The phenomenon is obvious, actually: while as many as half of Republicans believe the 2020 election was “stolen” from Trump, there’s no similarly disprovable “big lie” embraced by Democrats...."

Well there's a surprise. It's the same in the UK and on this very forum. Brexers, Boris horn-smokers, Trump horn-smokers, RWR. All gullible, low on brain cells and susceptible to lies. Easy prey for the likes of the Wail, GB news and other such garbage.

Oh :ROFLMAO:

One of Trump's co conspirators in Georgia has sacked his Trump funded lawyer for conflict of interest, taken up a public defender and is now cooperating with the prosecution.

There is track record of people with Trump's Save America PAC funded lawyers lying under oath and then telling the truth when appointed public defenders. eg Cassidy Hutchinson lied to the Jan 6 committee, and then admitted that she had been pushed to lie by a Trump appointed lawyer. More recently, the IT manager at Mar a Lago admitted that he lied to the FBI. Jack Smith's team argued in court that the Trump PAC lawyer did not have the defendant's best interest at heart, the judge agreed and appointed a public defender. The defendant then told the truth.

4 indictments, and it looks like Arizona may be the 5th.

BTW, if you want a biased but intelligent assessment of US politics, search for the New Abnormal podcast from the Daily beast.

...then the US public had four years of the idiot and look what that yielded.

Didn't get re-elected (although the nutter tried his hardest to stay in power).
Lost the Senate.
Lost the House.
