Who would have believed the amount of false press stories about weatherspoons !
I was very suprised at the amount of false stories to be honest.


Pick up the free ' Does Truth Matter ? ' from weatherspoons ....... the retractions are from Mp's The times The daily mail across the whole spectrum of the press .......All admiting their stories were false !!!

Even the beer been past its sell by date is an urban myth !!

Never had a bad pint in weatherspoons to be honest.

Of course it is. How could you stock 925 pubs with beer that's near it's sell by date? If this were true, then the people running the breweries would need to ask themselves some serious and urgent questions about the over production of their products.

Wetherspoons is a fabulous business, it can do no wrong in my eyes. Bringing people together, restoring beautiful buildings, feeding the masses and above all serving great (and varied) beers. It is a huge concern with pubs in seemingly every town in the country BUT unlike other huge businesses (Tesco, Amazon etc) it doesn't put its smaller competitors out of business. The presence of a 'Spoons is a boost to any nearby pubs. People like to go from pub to pub.

They are also peaceful and friendly pubs. I can't remember ever seeing any trouble in one.

I've read the "Does Truth Matter" magazine (free in all 'Spoons pubs) and whilst it is scandalous how many lies are told, it is doubly scandalous how the liars don't publicise their apologies and retractions with as much fanfare as with the original lie.

Wetherspoons's beer is usually in great condition; it's rare for it not to be given that they sell so much of it. I've had the odd bad pint but have never had any fuss returning it and getting a replacement.

I'm a fan. Their large breakfasts are good value, and a pint of beer or cider for not much more than half what others sell for can't be bad. Been going in them since day one and my old man used to supply them with cold rooms in South West when they first started expanding. Beer's usually pretty good and it's good there's no music so can talk or relax with the paper. Tim Martin is a bit of a knob though.

A true knob makes a massive thing about voting leave then later realises that his business relies on workers and products from The EU plus EU drivers to deliver those products to his pubs. A true knob treats his staff badly.

But the thing that really makes him a true knob: that he still won't admit to being wrong.

However, he does a pint of Abbot for £2.30, so I'm prepared to overlook it on this occasion.

A lot of these stories about Wetherspoons and dodgy beer are probably spread by competitors.
When Spoons opened in N. I. he couldn't get supplied with Guiness because the local pubs complained to the Guiness Brewery that he was selling it too cheap, as a result the Brewery wouldn't supply him, although the matter has now been resolved and he now sells Guiness.
Although he is a Brexiteer, his company have been expanding in the Irish Republic, where they made the biggest investment in their company's history, they opened a pub/hotel in Dublin costing 33 million Euros.

exactly what products from the EU does he rely on .
Treats workers badly ? living wage instead of minimum wage , premium paid for any hours after midnight , free food while on shift , 20% discount off food and drink when not at work , upto 10% of wages in share bonus , substantial bonuses if pub hits targets and just had a pay rise
