If you can only hear the noise at home, and if you find it is not noise from soil pipes, I would test the following:
1) Test to see if it is anything electrical in your house: Cut the power to your house using the Fuse Box and see if noise persists or stops (Could be noise from Fridge, Florescent Tube, Hard Disk in TV decoder box, oil heater pump, etc).
2) Test to see if it is anything electrical in neighbors house: Cut the power to the neighbors house (after asking them nicely) using their Fuse Box and see if noise persists or stops (I can hear neighbors Air Conditioning fan through vibrations through wall).
3) Test to see if it is waterflow (unlikely but a possibility) : Cut the water to the house using the main stopcock and see if noise persists or stops.
4) Vibrations from wind passing through gaps in sides of window frames (someone else on this forum has a whistling noise): Open windows and see if noise stops.
I have not yet figured out how to reply to people individually sorry. Yes I have a septic tank but I’ve gone near it and hear nothing so I figured it wasn’t that. I have also tried all the obvious things like cutting the power and water off but the noise remains. I think I have to just accept that this noise is coming from...me sadly
