What cutting pliers are these?

Is this insulation between upstairs and downstairs? I can see the point of insulating between inside and (effectively) outside zones, but two internal zones at more or less the same temperature it will do nothing.

It's not just heat that passes unwanted between opposite sides of a cavity...

It reflects heat and stops it being absorbed through the floor.

It doesn't, who told you that? or are you guessing?

It does. Perhaps you don't understand what I'm referring to and just assume it's a type of system you are familiar with. I'm dealing with joist work from the 30's. Also be less rude, you clearly don't have all the answers yourself.

Rock wool does not reflect. It is not shiny.
But it won't be absorbed through the floor if the underside is the same temperature.

Playing with the definition of the word the reflect a little bit there?

I know exactly what you're referring to and it is a method that has been in use for centuries.

Don't understand. Reflect only has one meaning.

Playing a bit of a strawman with the word to try and discredit my understanding of it?

Can you not say that if a material does not absorb heat, that could also be described as reflection?

I don't agree that one word only has one meaning, a word can have multiple different meanings, surely, otherwise there would be no room for miscommunication and misunderstanding?

No.

And I still say that putting insulation between two areas at the same temperature achieves nothing heat wise. If there was no ceiling it could reduce convection currents (draths) but that does not apply.
