What has tenant done to the electrics?

I doubt they'll be using the resources normally employed in counter-terrorism to track down people posting dodgy electrical advice on DIY sites.

There are limits. Specifically, it would be unwise to post "advice" on a safety-critical matter that you know to be false:

Online Safety Act 2023:

179False communications offence

(1)A person commits an offence if—

(a)the person sends a message (see section 182),

(b)the message conveys information that the person knows to be false,

(c)at the time of sending it, the person intended the message, or the information in it, to cause non-trivial psychological or physical harm to a likely audience, and

(d)the person has no reasonable excuse for sending the message.
It would have to be seriously malicious and given to a vulnerable person for these rules to apply. Where on the forum do people deliberately publish false info intending harm without a reasonable excuse?

Right. The context of my post quoting the legislation was that jonny2007 had said “There could be no legal implication whatsoever” to a post here resulting in someone doing something that gets them injured. I posted saying “there are limits”. Now we all know what the limits are!

What a total ******** All of the advice offered on here has been very appropriate given the potential extremely dangerous situation.

The following brawl is totally out of order and as I see the subsequent replies by the regular experienced and highly qualified members, I believe they have correctly interpreted the statements and excerpts from the laws you have made. It has been confirmed that your posts have been read in totality and understood, therefore there is no need for further criticism.

I feel (and really hope) that any unsafe irrefutable advice offered in an open forum (especially when the subject matter includes a well publicised dangerous hazard) and someone acting on that advice results in injury bad enough to involve Police or Health and Safety investigation that the advice would be investigated to the full and additionally any legal action taken would apply equally regardless of qualifications.

How far off piste I am I don't know.

Yes, the mods who can't stand losing an argument and think that because they are expert in one area they're also expert in all areas.
They're unable to accept their limits.
