Although now worried the joist near the wall is in the wrong place, as needs room for radiator pipes....
Last day of crawling about under cars for me today until September. I’ve spent every day this week doing friends and relatives cars. Service after service after bloody service. I was getting bored with not working since March but if I’m being honest, I’ve found that actually, not working isn’t too bad at all and I could get used to it. A mate of mine who had his own company told me on Monday he's realised there’s more to life than work and has chosen retirement and I’m starting to come round to that way of thinking too. We'll see - maybe I only feel that way because I’m aching like a bastard and my real work is nowhere as physically demanding but, I’ll still have to get up and take the trip to work every bloody day..........
In the end, time is all any of us have.
Spend your time making you and yours the happiest you can. If that means work, work. If it means not working, don't work.
I was furloughed for almost three months, and went back mid - June. I say "went back" but, in reality, I've spent my time visiting the lads on site, and working from home. Luckily, (and against the wishes of a director), I made my department mostly "electronic" some years ago, so my department works whatever the physical location.
I love the ten to fifteen hours per week I don't waste on commuting to the office; I get up at ten to, and start at seven, I eat better, I don't have to mix in an unsafe building, I don't have to queue for insufficient welfare facilities, I'm not spending £200 on diesel, I don't get interrupted with ridiculous trivialities / bitching and whinging and office gossip.........
Much, much better for my physical and mental health, my productivity, my family life, and my pocket
