What sort of money were they asking?

This one wasn’t actually for sale. It’s owned by a guy I met on a Facebook page and it’s the exact spec I’m after (Red, 3door, manual) so I asked if I could have a good look around it and ask him a few questions.

I want to find one the same for under £20,000.

No, never, that’s just on the back burner. Seats are in though (y)

Hey Ian! That's what I call a project! Are you a mechanic or just have the knack?

About 10 years ago I swapped a VR6 engine for an R32 engine in my Mk2 Golf. I took the shell back to bare metal, got brand new seats, brand new trim.

10years later... I would never get rid of it but can’t be bothered to finish it :LOL:(y)

Probably a retirement project now.

I’m a drain and water supply fixer but just applied for a job fitting water meters in footpaths.

I find it fascinating to see how an old car in a drab state of repair can be brought to life to better than brand new. Apparently some of the older sport model cars are turning out to be worth serious amounts of money now.

A ****ing nightmare day! Met my mate at my workshop today as he is starting back at work in a couple of weeks time. He’s a driving instructor and wanted a full service on his diesel Fiesta. Fairly straightforward job. Until you change the fuel filter. I didn’t prime it enough so when I started it, it ran for about 20 seconds and then cut out. I started cranking it and it almost had it a few times but it stopped cranking and gave a message on the screen - "Cranking time exceeded". Further pushes of the start button got me nowhere, it just wasn’t cranking Eh? I've never heard of that before. Looked it up online and I was finding posts saying to leave it for 15-30 minutes depending on model and it will start. It bloody didn’t. I tried everything, clearing it with my scanner, disconnecting the battery for a while but still no luck. In the end I had to Hotwire the starter to start it up and it was okay from then on. I must have wasted two hours on it though. To top it off, I got stuck in the most horrendous traffic jam on my way home and a 40 minute journey took me nearly another two hours. I nearly wet myself in the car but just made it home with no more than a little trickle getting from the car to my house! An eventful day to say the least. I’m sure there’s a message there for me about doing mates a favour.

There’s one of those parked up on a drive near me. Hasn’t moved for 10 years or more. It has a sign in the window, NOT FOR SALE! The bloke must be fed up with chancers knocking on his door asking if it is for sale.

I have been mostly helping a neighbour with a patio project.

The problem started when he realised his driveway wasn't strong enough for the readymix lorry and it couldn't park in the driveway as he planned. Queue panic calling me to help.

Turned up with my wheelbarrow to discover the only solution was pushing barrels up a hill and round the side of the house to the destination. And of course its all on a timer. I think i lost count at 30 barrels each + skating about on wet clay to the destination of course with obligatory clay clogs after the 2nd trip it was so wet. Took me right back to my labouring days as a lad. That was fun.
