What have you been doing today?

Been over the allotment on my bike today. Officially told that my new intended plot was definitely mine as the previous tenant had now handed their keys in. Racked up some more miles on the bike - I’m over the 80 mile total mileage mark now, not bad for 7 years! Mrs Mottie came too on a bike I found being chucked out next to a skip in the next street. A clean, a lube, a new outer gear cable and some adjustments and it’s working fine. Must be half decent too because there’s a secondhand one one for sale on eBay for £245!

Also a bike ride today slightly new route passing a farm shop that sells great pies but sold out grrrr, 2600 miles since lockdown 1

For about 3 months I was anticipating taking the obligatory 100,000m photo until the day before when I completely forgot!

After the mower packed up, I decided on a new battery one. Couldn't decide on which one, so thought I'd wait for the end of season price cuts, which meant the grass was getting longer, so I stripped and cleaned the carb on it, and off it went. Grass cut.

I hate it when you are itching to replace something that is broken or lost then you fix it or find it.

I hate it when you are itching to replace something that is broken or lost then you fix it or find it.

It refuses to die for good. It has been left out for more than 2 years, the oil was replaced for the first time ever this summer, the level seemed a bit high, turned out the sump had got water in it-most likely because it was left out in all weathers. Emptied the oil/water mix and topped up with fresh, it didn't rattle any more. Lost the key for the key start, so have to pull start it, so a new battery mower would be good, but want a self propelled one.

Family day out at Great Yarmouth to celebrate my wifes birthday. Brilliant time on the beach with the grandkids and then took them to the amusement arcades. The youngest one had never been to the seaside before and his face was a picture as he experienced sand between his toes for the first time. Afterwards we stood him on a stool in the arcade where you drop 2p pieces down a shoot to win prizes. Gave him a pounds worth of them and on his third or fourth coin he dropped a rubber dice that lights up when you drop/throw it. Also dropped a lot of coins but he was happy to play with the dice so I actually walked away in profit!

I got the 100K on our Honda, but missed the 150K....We were on holiday in Abersoch.

We’re going away with 6 friends to Bainlands for a long weekend soon and the place we are going hires bikes. £25 each for a weekend but we are being tight, saving £50 and taking our fold-up bikes. They've not been used for a considerable time. I dug them out, pumped the tyres up and checked them over. All good but as I was putting them away I noticed one tyre had gone flat already. Stripped it down, found the leak but the tube was well degraded so I fitted a new one. Just ordered some more tubes, a helmet for Mrs Mottie, a mini saddlebag with tool kit and a new carry bag as the mice had chewed through one of them. Total cost, £84. Some saving!

Our limited company year is up at the end of this month so making a start on compiling all the details for the accountant. Paper blindness and headache time!
