then blood test

I had one recently. For PSA and HbA1c.

The blood was taken by the surgery and sent away. I wanted the results, so rang the surgery. "Oh, you'll have to talk to the department who requested the tests."

So I talk to the department who requested the tests. "Sorry, you need to talk to your GP...."

Back and forth several times with no luck.

ARGH!! JUST GIVE ME MY ****ING RESULTS!

Still have not got them, so I'm going to ring the GP again now and get insistent, which is not my default position.

I'll let you know.....

Used my bus pass for the first time Keswick to Catbells saved £2.80 kerching!
Over 60's living in a London Borough get a free pass for buses, trains and trams. Used to be able to use them anytime but since the pandemic, that **** Khan restricted them to after 9.00 on weekdays so workers over 60 can’t use them to get to work. Mind you, I have a late start when I have to go to West London for work. Of course, it was only a 'temporary' measure to protect them from covid but guess what - it’s here to stay.

That's strange!

My bloods were taken yesterday, four colour coded samples and sent to the hospital for processing. Renal requested the samples, supplying the pouches, for a telephone appointment from renal tomorrow. I have just checked my local surgeries medical record for me and the results are there for me to view.

At last. Just got my results.

PSA normal, HbA1c 39 (range 30-41).

I'm a bit happier now.

I'd planned a restocking trip to Lidl for today, but I slept late and decided not to bother - nothing I needed desperately. Instead I pulled a couple of minted lamb chops out of the freezer to defrost.

Grilled on both sides, then left to finish off in the oven, whilst I boiled some potatoes for mash, cabbage and sprouts, served with onion gravy for a late lunch/early dinner, served with a glass of home made wine. I've started making too much mash and cabbage. It then goes in the fridge to fry up as bubble & squeak, for supper served with a scrambled egg.

I followed that with a couple of meringue nests, topped with tinned oranges and squirty cream.

Better deal than the rest of the country get

Made room in my busy schedule this afternoon to help a very nice old lady in t'village recall train her new rescue dog.

A 2yr old Lurcher that was seized due to gross neglect I'm told, you couldn't tell from how he looked & behaved today. She's had him 6 weeks now & the only aspect she told me that she cannot master is the recall.

You might think that a young Lurcher is the wrong dog for a genteel old lady in her 70's, but hold back your ignorance of the real truth & Google is your friend here. They are renowned as the worlds fastest couch potatoes. 20mins walk in the morning & 20 mins walk in the evening is all the exercise they need. When they run they RUN & given an open field they will RUN just for the sheer joy of running, at any other time they are usually asleep in a very funny position.

If you can appreciate just how easy it is to train a dog into a well behaved dog that is a joy to walk, then you will also understand that it usually isn't the dog that needs training, it's the owner. So I'm expecting to spend the first few hours trying to get her to understand that this way is how you do it. Oh how wrong was I, she knew exactly what she was doing, I'm just there to provide my 30ft long lead, within 2hrs he's almost instantly recalling on an empty field. Give her a few more sessions with him & I'm confident that she'll be able to recall him from sighting prey at any distance.

Drives me nuts. I'm entitled to see my own ***** records.
Had a vitamin D test - it was about zero.
Called reception after I'd only had the one test.

"Vitamin D isn't on there"
I sez it must be - cholecalciferol or ergocalciferol or both
"coleywat?" ha ha ha
cholecalciferol
"Oh well I don't know what that is"
Well, I do though - I looked it up. That's why I knew the word...

"oh but I don't know, so you'll have to see the doctor"
You want me to make an appointment to save reading the result?

Verbals - phone down.
One of "our heroes".

You’re lucky you can get to see the doctor to just discuss something. Ours are all phone consultations or send a photo.

Our doctors must be lonesome from the lack of F2F, it's very dificult to get a phone appointment, much easier to get a F2F now :)
