Today I was servicing our diesel Golf and checking it over, pre-MOT. I knew it needed an outer CV boot - an easy job so no early start needed. Pootling in to work with it (my workshop is just over a mile inside Khans ULEZ so had to pay £12.50 for the pleasure) and I was almost at the zone and I thought I’d phone the parts order through so that I wouldn’t have to wait too long for the parts to arrive. They didn’t have a CV boot kit. For a Golf! They offered me one of those universal ones and I told them what to do with it. I phoned up Euro car parts who are literally next door to my supplier and they didn’t have one either! I turned round before I reached the ULEZ and went back home. I phoned around and they had a kit of decent quality in GSF so I went and picked it up and ended up getting to work late in the morning. Did the job, no problem but as I was paying to be in the area I loaded up the car with 7 x 25 litre containers of waste engine oil and a few old tyres and ran them down the recycling centre. I was minded to stay in the area just driving around until midnight to get my moneys worth! ;)

Working through the night as a volunteer, to reposition the stones for the end of British Summer time. They have to be moved by 15° so the shadows in sunlight align at the correct hour. Just stopped for tea and sandwiches. The pics show the beginning of the job yesterday.

I heard a rumour that they planned to put all the stones on rails, on a circular track, so they could just push the that 15° forward and back.

Do the clocks go forward on the 1st of April then.

Hope it works. If nothing else, at least your hands will be as soft as your face.................................................
I can't touch fairy liquid because of the MI ingredient in it. That's the one that many people have troubles with.
It did work OK on windscreen .

Just got in from a wet walk with the dawgs. Just look at 'em - four of them focussed on a snack and my Susie poking her tongue out at me when I specifically asked her to smile! ;)

Saw a pair of doves on the ground on my usual country park walk with my dog. The way one of them was strutting his stuff led me to think he was about to hop on board if you get my drift. I left them to it.

Received a photo of my grandson after he and my son had carved the pumpkin I grew him over my allotment. He seems well pleased with himself. Apparently the innards went everywhere as they used a hand blender to mash up the insides.

Took my bike for it's MOT test after fitting a pair of tyres on it last week - it passed, naturally, so I bought some fresh oil and an oil filter and I’ll get my students to do this as an assessment sometime this week.

Fitted a new infra-red sensor and controller to the bathroom cabinet so that I can hit the target when I get up for a wee in the middle of the night! ;)

Busy, busy day. :ROFLMAO:

Told a driving instructor he couldn't pick up/drop his students off in a disabled bay. He said it was ok because he was only dropping her off and would be about 2 minutes.
Out of nowhere I replied, "I don't remember ever seeing that in the IAM manual or updates over the many years."
His reply, "Ok, you got me. I tried it on and failed."
My reply, "Miserably, now get to the drop off area pronto."

What made it funny is I'm not a member of the IAM! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just finished my first session with a new cohort of students. As is usual, lines have to be drawn from the very start so that they know what's expected of them. Unusually this time though - I hardly needed to lay any rules down as the support worker that accompanies them was a young woman and she took absolutely no shît from them. When they called her by her first name, she said "It's Miss XXXXX to you, I'm not your classmate" and "Cut out the bad language". "Get off that chair, this is not a class based lesson - you are here to work". Practically did my job for me. All I had to tell them was to look at me when I'm talking to them and of course, point out the sign with my one and only rule. ;)

I 'had a go' at an instructor who regularly drove up on the pavement outside my home, to collect his pupil. I made sure I did it when his pupil was getting in and reported him to his driving school.
