What have you been doing today?

Thanks Mottie. That’s such a shame, people can be such *****.
Its getting worse - I just had this from our friend. Someone’s dumped a cat over there now!

Work party again over the allotment. Fitting barbed wire support brackets to the concrete posts that support a 200 yard chain link fence between the allotment and a river bank. One of the blokes was using these special bolts that cut their own thread in a 10mm hole in the post. Put them in with an impact driver. Best bit was felling all the trees with a chainsaw that were a bit too close to our fence. When we'd had enough of that for the day I actually got some time to work on my own plot - made a raised bed and filled it with a mixture of soil, sand and well rotted manure. Going to plant my winter onions and garlic in there. Just as I was packing up, I got a call from a mate of Mrs mottie - she was clearing her mums shed out and there was a lot of ‘allotmenty' stuff there if I wanted it. I called round on the way home and got a greenhouse irrigation unit, a potting bench, cold frame clips, a Louvre kit for a greenhouse, seed trays, misters and loads of other useful bits that I had never heard of before. Filled the car up so I had to go back to the allotment to drop it all off before I could finally go home. I’ll have a good pick through tomorrow.

Just got back from my mums. Her PayPal account had been hacked. $60 has been paid into it and three different purchases were made in the US, all for $5.41. She had her credit and debit card registered to the PayPal account. Thing was, I am halfway through moving her money about for her after cashing in her premium bonds and she still had over £25k in her bank account. I managed to get both cards stopped and she will be getting new ones sent to her next week.

My PP was hacked. I then set up 2SV on it. You log in, then you are prompted to enter a code that is sent to your mobile.

The trouble with all these accounts like PP, eBay and Amazon is that you are not prompted to set up this 2 step verification; it should be compulsory and part of your account set up procedure. Instead, it is buried away in the settings somewhere.

My Amazon account was hacked and I never understood why. They used their own vouchers to buy baby stuff, then entered an (anonymous) address for it to be delivered to.

Didn't lose a thing.

I fitted 9 roof windows yesterday, and by heck I'm feeling it today!

Had a labourer for most of them but he had to go at 1730, and we'd only fitted 6 by then. Fortunately (and I can massively recommend it) this Xmas present lst year meant I could carry on and close up:

Did it all off the two little yellower looking lights too; it was like daylight everywhere I looked!

9pm finish; should have started sooner..

Went up and collected a new iPad for my mum today and set that up for her. So that’s a new iPhone and a new iPad she’s bought in the last week. She says her old ones were taking ages to charge and the batteries didn’t didn’t last long. As she'd had them a few years she couldn’t be arsed to get new batteries fitted. Anyway, I’ve taken her old iphone 6S and her 6th gen 2018 iPad as she was going to chuck them out with the rubbish! "I might as well have the charger then" I said so she gave it to me. It was this:

A kindle charger!

I’ve charged both up and they’ve been running BBC iPlayer for quite some time now.

Oh well, they were both only 32Gb and she now has double that on her new ones which is more than enough for her plus she has a new iPad (slightly larger screen - 10.2” v 9.7”) and an iPhone 11.

I might give them to my grandson to play with if my son and daughter in law will let him have them.
