What have you been doing today?

Spent most of the day waiting to pick up the grandkids from skool. They've been fed, bath'd & currently it's TV time snuggled up with Granma. In approx 15mins time we start the gradual process of dragging them into their beds when I will be expected to tell a story using silly voices.

I'm enjoying the breather inbetween & trying my hardest to work out at what exact point in my life did I turn into my dad?

I reckon you will be really good at storytelling.

Artexing walls and ceiling to match what was done 20 years ago by someone else. There a lost skill I have.

What about your "weekly meeting of the Rogue's Vagabonds & Ne'er Do Weller's MCC"? Giving it a miss this week?

Difficult one. I've made a good fist of it on more than a few occasions, it's not just the pattern, it's getting the consistency of the mixture right. Sometimes it can look perfect but shrink back as it dries.

Hate the stuff.

Had to go round my mums as her kitchen sink was 'making a funny noise'. Turned out that the open drain outside was clogged with leaves about a foot below the surface and I had to roll my sleeve up and fish them out with my bare hand. Luckily, the water was warm and soapy!

Yeah I could mix up and get consistency for the different patterns bang on every time but I've lost that skill.
I have to mess with it.

As for shrinkage (keep this secret) don't use artex.
I use easyfill 60 mostly or for small repairs gyproc cove adhesive..
Both sets in an hour so pattern stays as is.
Cove adhesive is best for patching having leveled with first mix then as setting get fresh mix to pattern straight on..

Artex itself shrinks and impossible to get good job.

Continuing to sell stuff on eBay that has been hanging around for yonks cluttering up the place.

So far, I have sold an old 35mm camera, a piece of flooring grade chip, a trombone, various working and non-working or broken smartphones,a printer, a scanner, and a CD Walkman.

There's some other stuff left (garden lights and a SatNav), some silver I need to weigh in at a jewellers and some first edition books (one of which I'm hoping is quite rare), and I'm hoping to get shot of as much of it as possible before 2023.

It's wonderfully cathartic.
Every time I sell something, I feel lighter!

That sounds like a very useful tip, thanks, I won't tell a soul.

Been on a shoot today. Had a couple of braces for my trouble - I’ve hung one brace on our next door but one neighbours door handle - that’ll be a nice surprise for them when they come home. Was a nice day with all the snow on the ground and the sun shining. Saw plenty of hares running about too - normally quite hard to spot on a ploughed field but easy when it’s covered in snow. When we had finished, we just chucked all the dogs in one box and it was a bit cramped, we had 9 of them in there. It looked like a food display on a Chinese meat market stall!

They'll need some washing when you get home!
Not really. Normally they are covered in mud but with snow on the ground and the ground being frozen, they were the cleanest they’ve ever been! Just a bit wet from pushing through snow covered brambles. I just washed the paws of my one off with my portable washer.

Call out this morning to a holiday let on Windermere, roads were a bit tricky and almost turned back, burnt wire in storage heater, easy fix, just put a leg of lamb in the oven.
