What have you been doing today?

Nice weather today so Mrs Mottie and I went over the allotment for a bit of planting out - mainly her flower bulbs in the flower borders I made for her at the front of the plot. Saw a couple of ladybirds having a bit of rumpy pumpy and they wouldn’t stop even when I blew on them. Would you? :ROFLMAO: Couldn’t get a properly focussed picture of them so this’ll have to do.

I 'harvested' one spear of asparagus last week and another two have popped up in its place. Still very early.

Compared to the overgrown jungle it was when I took it over, I’m pretty pleased how tidy it’s looking now and quite a few have commented on my progress.

Same plot but photo from a different angle.

Went round my mums and fitted a new Euro lock cylinder in her door for her. I got one with a thumb turn on the inside. Then went out and got her some extra keys cut.

I went over the allotment and potted young plants on.

Completely forgot about my fecking PSA blood test. Managed to book another one for ten past seven on Thursday morning but I’m cutting it a bit fine for my watch and wait follow up appointment next Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully the consultant will get my blood results before then.

Cooked a nice chicken and pea risotto for dinner and even cleared up afterwards ( normally whoever cooks, doesn’t clear up) as Mrs Mottie had been at work this morning and looking after her mum with the onset of dementia all afternoon - she says that’s harder than work! Left home at 7.00 and didn’t get in until 6.00. Susie sits patiently throughout dinner and the clearing up as she always gets a treat when it’s all done.

Around here, the bloods are rushed to the lab, the same day, and the results appear electronically by next morning.

I’ve complained several times, online, to my local authority about a dangerously leaning tree on their strip of land down our street. It was basically being held up by a wisteria plant from the garden backing onto the LA's land wrapping itself round the tree and holding it up. No problem they said, they have put it on their list for inspection - every 3-5 years! Even my local councillor took it up and got the same response.

Too late! I hope the owners of the vehicles damaged get adequate compensation from the LA.

It's okay though, I’ve reported it online and I’ve just had an automated response saying they will reply to me in the next three days. Don’t like to tell them I told you so, but………

If the shoe was on the other foot, the Nazis at the LA would take great pleasure in taking the land owner to the cleaners.

Did you pass on your contact details to the owner and let them know the LA had been informed, in good time, of the risk?
No but I will do. I know what house he lives in - his daughter had parked her car on his drive today so he moved that one on to the street. I think it’s just the family runaround as he has a Tesla - good job that wasn't parked there!

Just had this back:

Dear Steve

We have reviewed your enquiry and we have decided that the reported tree issue has been reported to us and work is already underway to investigate. We will not be taking any further action on this occasion.

Please note: If a tree on private land is causing an obstruction to the highway, pavement or any street signs, we will attempt to make contact with the landowner to resolve the issue

Kind regards,
Havering Environment Team

Anyway a team of tree surgeons are there now, chopping and chipping.

If the LA were not aware, then they have some defence. Once they have been informed, they have a duty of care to deal with it promptly.
