What have you been doing today?

Fitted up my painted pallet corners and chopped up an old gazebo cover to give them some protection from dampness. Just got to top them up with soil and compost. Scorching hot over there today so I’m a little bit on the red side! Our daughter and her husband came over tonight and we went out for an Indian round the corner to us. Had a great time - Mrs Mottie is always happy when she meets up with the kids. Happy wife, happy life. :giggle:

Do herons eat ducklings?
Oddly enough, out on our morning walk just now and as we were passing the pond, we saw a Heron stalking near to a pair of Canadian geese and their ducklings that were out on the bank. The geese were getting all defensive and honky.

Well, yesterday - Had a bath, dressed, then set off to catch the bus for an appointment for MRI scan on my prostate. During the 100yard walk to the bus, I discovered my wallet was absent from my jeans back pocket, panic, panic, panic. It had my bus pass, cards and driving licence in it. My wallet is always kept in the back pocket of what-ever outdoor clothes I am currently wearing. Dash back home, did a quick search, nothing found, but no time to waste due to the appointment. Last time I definitely had the wallet - Thursday, when using the bus pass on the bus from Lidl, I'd not left home since then. Managed whilst waiting to be seen for MRI, to cancel both Visa and credit card in the wallet, luckily partner had my other Visa card, so no need to cancel that, and still usable on my phone.

My best guess, was that it may have popped out of my pocket, on the crowded bus, on the way back from Lidl, that someone had handed it in, and it was now at the bus depot - but 5pm Saturday and a bank holiday.. I normally check my valuables are where they should be, when getting off - but this time it was so crowded, and I was struggling with heavy bags, I may have omitted doing that.

Once home and with time, I searched the house, garden, garage and found nothing. I rang the police, to see if it might have been handed in, the local Metro, and researched getting a new pass, getting a new driving licence.

I spent the entire evening, looking and trying to second guess where I might have lost it, then finally when I thought I'd covered everything - I went to bed. Getting changed, sat on the bed, I thought of one more place I hadn't looked - just under the side of the bed - and there it was. It must have fallen out of my jeans pocket as I was sat on the bed, putting them on, then I must have just nudged it under with my foot..

Lazy day today. Dog walk, watched Grand Prix, went over the allotment and picked a few ingredients for tomorrows breakfast. Scrambled eggs on toast with chopped chives for Mrs Mottie and poached eggs on toast with chopped chives and asparagus for me. Fresh, home made bread of course. (y)

Will be in the breakfast thread tomorrow, natch! ;)

We have a 50/50 rescue success rate. Occasionally, one will disappear, never to be seen again, so if we ever move, we may find a mousey corpse behind the piano or wall cabinet.

When my sisters daughter was 2 years old, they were packing away the Christmas tree and found two dead mice just laying across the branches. Unless the mice decided to die in that position, the only explanation could be was that the cat had brought them in, dead, dropped them on the floor unseen by my sister and her daughter, thinking they were tree baubles that had fallen off, hung them back in the tree!
