What have you been doing today?

I had a little used Kirby, bought at great expense, a complete kit with the full range of accessories, attachments, even the carpet washer - taking up space in the under-stair cupboard. On Sunday, I decided it had to go, so I put all of it at the gates, with a note on it saying free and in GWO, expecting someone could probably make good use of the kit. Annoyed - It soon went, but to a scrap collector, for it's weight in alloy, but leaving all the expensive accessories.

If i'd ever found a headless bird on the bed i would've freaked out! One of ours once left a half eaten rat under my bike, which really puts you off breakfast of a morning. Another turned up on the window sill wanting to be let in but was flatly refused due to the dead bird clamped between its jaw. Cats! they look so cute n' furry but they have a streak of pure demon.

Just glad that current tabby doesn't have a taste for mice and they usually live to fight another day. Cats we've had are either hunting all the time or not interterested at all. One of our older rescues we had some years ago wasn't interested and never caught anything, except once. It was a live bat, who must have thrown himself at our cat's feet for him to show any interest. Don't think he knew what to do with it. Took it to a bat rescue centre.

The sister in law used to live near a pond. One day her cat tried to come through the cat flap backwards dragging a rather noisy duck behind him! She managed to get the cat to let go and the duck escaped back to the pond.

Makes a change for them to provide one for the pot. Some relations live in the sticks and their female cat regularly brings home rabbits, which their lazy male cat then relieves her of.

Went to the audiologists this morning. It’s national hearing week and they were offering free hearing tests (normally £30) and microsuction for £55 (normally £85). Hearing test told me nothing I didn’t already know - not great but average for the over 50’s but the microsuction - urgh! Got a rat turd size pellet of wax out of each ear. She let me take them home to show Mrs Mottie. Mrs Mottie nearly threw up.:ROFLMAO:

Getting closer. Had another contractor round today taking internal and external photo's plus more measurements. I can almost smell those new drains…….. :ROFLMAO:
Just had a phone call. Work is commencing tomorrow at 10.00 am.

Went and picked up another 4 pallet collars for the allotment. A bargain at £6 each for ready made, foldable 1200x1000 beds. Didn’t go over there yesterday but today…..the asparagus bed has exploded!

Having some stir-fried tonight with my dinner and some more tomorrow morning for breakfast, steamed, with some poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. You can’t get fresher than that!

An afternoon spent cleaning, tidying and rationalising the pantry/ store area. Some of the items in there, had not seen the light of day for a decade. Preceded by a shopping trip to the nearest town, to get some 'storage solutions' for the shelves. It all looks much tidier now.

Many years ago I was wiring some storage heaters in a very nice but old house, one of my cable routes was through the pantry. I asked the householder to empty a shelf of tins, as he got to the back he asked to borrow my hammer & bolster, some tins had corroded and the contents congealed onto the shelf, lots of banging & swearing ensued

leaving all the expensive accessories.
I put a wash hand basin and pedestal with waste and taps outside. The guy tried to sneak up and just take the basin.

I went out and told him if he wanted the scrap, he had to take the pedestal as well.

Another time, I left a couple of batteries outside the front door to weigh in, went to post a letter and when I got back, I could see a Transit tipper leaving with them. Took the reg and reported the theft. 1 hour later, the batteries were returned by a copper....
