What have you been doing today?

It's plugged into my computer, and I use it for listening to music videos on Youtube whilst I'm working or browsing. So, I brought down a much better hifi from the spare bedroom. Two problems. I'm finding it difficult to concentrate now on what I'm doing, because the music sounds so good.

It's made me realise how good the audio quality is of videos on Youtube these days. Before I plugged in the old mini hifi, we had been using standalone computer speakers, and even that really cheap hifi and speakers sounded much better. But in the intervening fifteen (plus) years, Youtube has obviously totally changed, with so many official videos being available for free. I would say it's equivalent to CD quality. I've just read that it's actually something called 128Kbs AAC, and that some audiophiles are a bit sniffy about it, but I'd be lying if I said I could tell the difference from a CD.

I didn't know that. I thought there were a lot of different doves. i.e. Collared, Turtle, Stock, rock etc. Or am I missing something?
Sorry, I meant all non-wild doves are white. I won’t be able to release this into the wild as it will be attacked. Tried two dove companies (used for release at weddings/funerals) to see if it is theirs or they can take it and it’s a no to both. It’s come from someone with a dovecote in their garden. Got to try and track them down.

Tried two local companies that supply Doves for weddings and funerals etc and one local person with a Dovecote. They all say not theirs and won’t take it in in case it brings disease into the flock. I sent some photo's to a bird watcher friend of Mrs Mottie and she thinks it is an Albino collared dove so I may be able to release it. Looking closely at it, it has got a faint beige collar. I just don’t know what to do for the best.

Update, my neighbour has just knocked and told me that a local smallholder over the back also has caught one tonight and that had been rescued from a cat. Its gone dove crazy round here!

Tried to release him this morning. Took him out of the shed on my hand and into the garden. He looked around and stayed put. I tried to shoo him off but he wasn’t having it. It was then that Mrs Mottie noticed Biscuit (next doors cat that nearly had him a few days ago) sitting on top of the garage amongst the foliage so I put him back in the shed. Might take him over the field later and actually throw him up.

It’s gone. :( I’ve got everything crossed for it and I think it’ll need it. I didn’t want it to get too used to being handled. It’s a wild bird and it wouldn’t be fair to keep it. Mind you, it'd better get used to flying or at least open its eyes when it does!

I have just collected a new, quite cheap, replacement wheel barrow tub/body, galvanised steel. I bought a new builders barrow a few years ago, used it once and a local friend asked it he could borrow it. Needing it three years later, I asked if I could 'borrow' it back. It had been left in the weather all that time, and the tub was just a rusty weak mess, and buckled under any load. Frame was salvageable, since when I've been wondering whether to fork out £100 for a new one, or struggle. Then, on FB, I spotted someone not far away, selling new galv tubs for £12, so tonight I collared one. It would have been rude, not to. It's not quite a perfect fit, but tomorrow I will see if I can make it fit.

When you leave our local B&Q, there is a box with little offcuts. A couple of weeks a go I looked in it and I found a Ferrex Multitool. It was used but still in the box. I put it in my bag and took it home, thinking I had won a watch.
When I tried it, there was sparks coming from the motor. So, I took it to pieces and found that one of the brushes was kaput.
The instruction leaflet was also in the box, and on looking at it, I discovered that the machine was still under warranty. So, I went online, started the proceedure of making a warranty claim. They issued me with a ticket number to accept the claim.
Today, I went to Aldi with my printed off e-mail in hand, and I came out the shop £20 richer, result.
