What have you been doing today?

Three wins and one loss this week.
Win 1, got my broadband down to £23.50 from £29.50 by a bit of haggling with my supplier
Win 2, complained to my ISA provider for the second time and they gave me a further £125 on top of the £80 they have already paid me,
Win 3, Got £50 back as a TV I bought on Sunday had dropped by £50 from the shop that sold it to me.

Loss - Got a ****ing parking ticket for parking with two wheels on the pavement outside my workshop while I opened it up. I was out of the car for approx 2 minutes and the **** pounced. Dirty rotten **** - I had the hazards on too. I’m looking into appealing it, I might be lucky.

Had another win of sorts - no student turned up that session amount trumped the total of the three small wins but as it had already been paid up front, I didn't really look on that as a win.

Annual diabetic eye test today, I’m marginal. I had to cancel my original appointment, after setting off on the bus to it - because they had moved the venue, without making it clear where the new venue was. It just wasn't practical to get there via public transport, three buses, and no way would I try to drive, after the test.

Rearranged for today, at a more easily accessible location, just two bus rides to get there. My eyes are just now, two hours later, beginning to work properly again. My right eye, made it to the bottom line, in the test, my left only managed third row from bottom.

As the place was adjacent to a vast Tesco, I decided to pop in their cafe for a breakfast, only to be told - they had no eggs left. Probably one of the biggest Tesco supper stores, with thousands of eggs, in the store, but their cafe had no eggs... Common sense prevailed, and they got someone to get some eggs from the store below.

We were staying at hotel in Grasmere, at breakfast we were told the egg delivery had not arrived so were off the menu, opposite was a decent sized Co op, I said can't you nip over and buy some, some muttering about the chefs decision, still no eggs

A walk in the woods with Merlin, not much about apart from Robins, as we neared the entrance gate it picked up a Tawny Owl, I heard it but did not recognise it

Last bird I heard with Merlin was a Nuthatch. It doesn’t seem to be so sensitive lately - I can sometimes hear birds quite clearly but they are not being picked up. The other week at the end of the shoot when it was getting near to dusk, I heard a bird I’ve never head before but it stopped before I could get my phone out. Someone else told me straight away that it was a Guinea fowl roosting up for the night.

Mrs Mottie and I have been on a bit of a high today after officially hearing yesterday that we are going to be grandparents again. Mrs Mottie has had her suspicions for a while. Our grandson is pretty chuffed too that he's going to be a big brother. Due on June 6th - D-Day! He wanted to talk to it in his mums tummy so he went up to her and shouted 'I LOVE YOU’ into her belly! Heartwarming. :giggle:

Must admit I thought it was less sensitive, there was some background noise from what sounded like a compressor at the farm though

Been to a murder mystery night with some friends in aid of a local community centre. The local am-dram group did the murder mystery show. It was so bad it was good. I won a prize in the raffle and Mrs Mottie won a tenner in some heads and tails fundraiser. Livin' the dream!
