What have you been doing today?

I'm cooking Roast with my girls and preparing for my first real sourdough.

One time in Florence, we went to visit a friend for dinner. When we arrived she hadn't started cooking and, I was thinking, dinner at eight isn't going to happen. The steak was sitting on the worktop ready to be cooked. When she started cooking it, it went into the pan with a whoosh, and after what seemed like 15 seconds there was another whoosh and the other side was being done. Once it was scalded on both sides it came out and onto a rack, I was thinking that it was then going into the oven. Nope, that was it done.
There was blood all over my plate and I struggled to eat it. My reply when I was asked if I would like some more, no grazie, sono pieno.
We laughed about that many times after because my partner knew very well that I didn't want to eat it.

Sounds lovely. I would have lapped that up.

I think so. I like sushi and black pudding .

If it's meant to eaten like that then I think I could. If she was just a bad cook then maybe no.
We were in Florence, and she was Florentina, my Genovese partner told me that we were having Florentine Steak, and that's how they do it.

Me too. I used to experiment buying various cheap cuts of steak, like braising steak, then just searing the outside for a few seconds to kill off any germs. They were really yummy and tender like that.
Are you Italian or is that the other Jonathan?

I love Yorkshire too. Especially with peas and gravy...

Joking aside, I spent 6 years in Yorkshire at boarding school in Ackworth.

Memorable school trips were to Nidderdale, NYM and Malham.

Cracking place, Yorkshire.

On the ferry at 8 tonight, Portsmouth to St Malo. 12 hour crossing - who knows why it takes so long, maybe we're fitting in a mini med cruise on the way. Got a cabin, so hope to get some kip over night unless I'm heaving on deck for the whole time. Don't think we go anywhere near the Bay Of Biscay! o_O

Heading down south to look at some house for a holiday home, poss eventual full time escape. Hope my old bus get's me there. Looking forward to civilisation and getting off this frantic isle. That's a large pastis for me, garcon!!

May look in on Himmy on the way back. :ROFLMAO:

Had to give up trying to get to my regular dog walking place today due to a combination of bad weather and excess traffic down all the lanes due to an incident on the M25/A127 junction so went to a local park for our walk. Found an old football and had a kick about with Susie until she dumped it in the lake. Tired herself right out and after coming home, drying her off and having her breakfast, she's soundo.

Next job was to sort out a water leak in the tailgate. No water in boot floor but every time I opened the tailgate I'd get a flood of water pi55 out of the tailgate trim and drip on me 'ead! On top of that, the wiper was playing up - intermittently stopping halfway through its travel and not parking properly when switched off. Took the tailgate trim off and it was obvious straight away what the problem was. On the A3 the washer water goes through the wiper motor and comes out through the wiper arm spindle where the jet is fitted. It had leaked internally causing the wiper to play up and water to leak into the tailgate. You can see the rust marks where water is coming out of numerous places on the motor. Going to order a new wiper motor when I get home.
Replacement wiper motor came today so I fitted that on. I opted for a second hand OE motor in case my insurance was invalidated according to @DiyNutJob. ;) Not really, I bought it instead of some new cheapo Chinese p.o.s. even though I could have got one of those for about the same price. All working now but I opened it up to be nosey and what a mess. Looks like it failed because of a seal on the washer pipe connection. Anyway, all done now.
