What have you bought today?

Went for a coffee at our local furniture emporiums cafe, came out £1.4k lighter after buying a wardrobe that was reduced by 50%, got to redecorate the bedroom now

50% off? At least you saved £1.4K. Others would say it's only a saving if you were going to spend £2.8k in the first place.

We have been looking for a new wardrobe for years but I always baulked at the cost, that includes delivery & assembly

Whenever my wife gets a discount she then spends the discount saving on something for herself.
Her maxim is, "If I hadn't saved x amount on that I wouldn't have been able to buy 'y'. Womens logic baffles me.

Nescafe Roastery Dark instant coffee because it's back in at £3 a can. Best of the instants I've come across so far.
Bought 6.

It annoys me when they go back to £5. If they're making a profit at £3 they're robbing everyone at 5....

Just made an even bigger saving, phoned up to pay for the unit to be told the piece did not include the drawer unit & some other bits was going to be over £2k, told him to stick it

Special offers are not a result of the supermarket being generous. These discounts are shouldered by the manufacturers. But you're right, the profit margin is quite healthy for most products other than loss leaders: products that attract you into the store in the hope that you will buy other stuff at the same time.

Partly, but that doesn't work when all the major s'markets are charging the same, for the same month. There have been several products like this, where the price drops by 40% for about a month every 3 months, for years. There must be logic in it somewhere but as a long term strategy, I find it odd.

Marmite hot cross buns. 'Orrible, sticky sh1te. Left an aftertaste in my mouth. Never again!

A Hoe for my Ho'. I'll give it to Mrs Mottie when she gets in later.
