Next were running a 'deal' that meant I could get £150 off of another item so we ordered smething for £150 as it would be effectively free. That is coming in 3-4 weeks. The sofa is coming on Friday. They deducted the £150 from the payment for the sofa and will charge it when the other item is ready for delivery. Once we have the sofa, guess what item is going to be cancelled.

I'll give it a go. Nothing to lose and I’ll be relying on the distance selling regulations. In my account, there is clearly the option to cancel the 'free' item. If I cancel it, I can see nothing in any of the paperwork I have that says I will still have to pay for it.

Well, technically i bought my picture tiles a couple o' weeks ago but they arrived this morning - in one piece: huzzah!

I tried to buy some own brand peppermint antacids (I don't like Rennies). The generic ones just use calcium carbonate as an active ingredient, whereas Rennies also use heavy magnesium carbonate and I think they taste quite sickly.

Anyway, all the stores are out of generic antacids. This isn't the first time and it usually lasts a few months. I worked out most, if not all of the generics, are made by the same company, so I gave them a call. They said there is a supply problem with one of the active pharmaceutical ingredients. Bearing in mind only one active ingredient is listed, it must be the calcium carbonate. The lady told me it's been going on a couple of months and as yet there is no date for new antacid tablets to be available (and she added that no date on the system was pretty unusual).

Why don't you just buy Calcium carbonate in tablet (pill) or powder form?
EDIT: I've just Googled the ingredients of Rennies and it seems the major part of them is indeed Calcium carbonate.
Each chewable tablet contains: Alginic acid 150mg, calcium carbonate 625mg and heavy magnesium carbonate 73.50mg

I have tried calcium carbonate tablets, but this remedy seems to be more effective in a chewable/suckable formulation. I've not seen powder as much and actually don't fancy it because it doesn't dissolve in water so I think it would be hard to swallow. Needs strong stomach acid to dissolve.

I tried Sainsburys and Morrisons physical stores. I tried all the others online only. I've now seen local Boots (although not online) claim to have stock.

If you are suffering that regularly, best get to the docs. That acid can attack and dissolve your esophagus, leading to internal bleeding, which is quite serious.

Calcium carbonate tablets are usually taken as a way of supplementing calcium. I've not found them much good for indigestion. Chewable/suckable seems to work a lot better.

I don't think calcium carbonate powder would work. I once tried calcium citrate powder as a supplement and that is more soluble in water and that was hard enough to swallow. Also, you don't want a lot extra liquid sloshing around. Sucking slowly seems to be the best method.

It's actually very mild. I have one most days but not every day. The instructions say do not take more than 16 tablets a day!

I don't want to go onto anything stronger like zantac or omeprazole as both may cause long term problems. Also, it boosts my calcium!

Holland and Barratt have all kinds of things for that. Chewy calcium tabs are £3.50 at the one near us. Find your nearest outlet an give 'em a go.
