I've been in probably 3 different weatherspoons over the years but lived near one. All three had trouble in the eve. I just put it down to cheap booze=drunk kids being idiots. Glad to hear that there are some that are ok though :)
I stopped going Fridays due to the fact its so busy & noisy, Saturday & Sunday are OK. Been in loads of spoons all over, hull bristol Nottingham Folkestone, basically, if I'm anywhere & need food & drink, I'll try & find a 'spoons.

I'm going into town on Saturday morning to get my hair cut. I always have a large English breakfast with a pint of Thatcher's Gold. The two go together very well, and for 8 quid it's a bargain. Won't need to eat until the evening.

OK, 'Spoons is never going to be Michelin star, but it's good basic grub and pints at prices they should be - rather than the rip-offs everywhere else. Does what it says on the tin.

They stopped doing black pud with breakfast, so I don't go in there as often !

Its nowt to do with Spoons.

Terry Christian is a devout remainer and 'hell in a handcart' Tim Martin is a leaver.

I suggest you watch it again .....Christian insults the wetherspoons pub calling it crap food I seem to recall, Christian is an oaf. Irrespective of the point that's being debated.

I remember seeing it live.

Ellal and Christian both deride Wetherspoons because they disagree with the owner, as I said its all to do with Brexit, nowt to do with the pubs really, its a very successful chain, well managed. In a period where pub and restaurant sector is struggling Wetherspoons is a winner. Although some might say Wetherspoons is the cause of local independants failing.

That is true here. One local pub had a special on each week day which they charged £5 for, they then upped it to £6. When our Spoons opened they immediately dropped the £6 back again to £5. In the 80's the place used to be packed, so they expanded it in the 90's, double its floor area. It is mostly wasted now, custom has declined anyway, but those few who do still go out for a drink, prefer to pay a good bit less at Spoons. Breweries and pub chains are just too greedy.

Why did they give this knob airtime anyway ? Wether he’s a remainer or leaver he still talks b0||0ks.

I see lots of big local town pubs around my way converted to Tescos / Co-op etc or into Costa coffee.

My 'local' is a pub Ive never visited, it always looks a bit run down with some sad locals propping up the bar.

I think society has changed and pubs dont offer what people need.

I often wonder if my 'local' changed into a combined coffee shop with fast wifi and a bar in the evening, perhaps it would do better trade.

So many people now work from home, but may welcome a nice cafe to get a coffee and send some emails or have client meetings.

Wetherspoons is an example of scale of economy + standardisation. Those places have detailed standard operating procedures, so all the food menu is made the same. Places like Costa have big thick folders with SOP written on them.

A local indy pub cant complete on price.
