Which Led's

I know it was suggested putting a condom over the bulb to give pearl effect but not sure it would take the temperature. The position of the element when using a bulb to project images is important and to replace the standard bulb with an energy saving bulb where that distance to element is so important possibly would not work? Unless the projector is actually made to use LED bulbs then likely there would be a problem. I still from time to time use an enlarger which uses a 100W clear bulb to make prints although tend to be lazy and scan the negative and digitise today, but there is still nothing to beat the chemical print can't ever see a digital print bringing the sums of money exchanged for an Ansel Adams print. But using a projector like that is hardly standard domestic use and for industrial use you can still buy bulbs.

What is surprising is with pearl bulbs the lumen output increases. Well maybe not so surprising that's why the LED's in a replacement fluorescent tube are inside a pearl tube not clear. Which brings me to the LED strip if put behind a pearl defused window they will it would seem work better than with nothing? Where we get the problem is with doubling up the device to spread the light. So placing a dome over the GU10 which will spread the light will likely work better than not having it there, but as with the condom what are the fire risks? I would be far happier using a 18 inch lamp to start with.

As a student I tried to replicate the BS test on condoms. 2 litres of water iirc. They have no problem reaching sizes like that!
