Just picked up a bottle of wine for a caretaker who is letting me into school tomorrow, also buy for another site team at another school as well as a sneaky bottle of JD for the gaffer who is a great help, I don't buy for wealthy business owners, but will for employees who help me out

most companies frown on employees accepting gifts, certainly anything over a fairly nominal amount is prohibited.

For the rank and file, I agree.
But the higher up the chain you go , the bigger and better the rewards.
Pizzes me off that the people who really could do with it are limited to a sleeve of golf balls, yet the big dogs get as much as holidays:evil:

I usually take the students and their tutors plus those that have looked after me out for an end of year meal. Used to do the same at the end of the academic term too. Not this year though as I’ve not worked since March. Normally me and Mrs Mottie go away for a weekend somewhere for our 'firms do' but nowhere to go this year - we're just going out on our staff party next week.

The companies AGM I suppose?

I buy six cases of booze - four cases of Stella and two cases of Strongbow. They get distributed to my builders merchants and hire shop. My work mates get a big chunk of cash.

My employer seems to spend a fair bit on bottles of alcohol for customers.
the DHL driver wanted to run away when he saw the pile of well wrapped boxes he came to collect. :)

Not exactly a client but I’ve just done the weekly shop and while there I picked up a half-decent bottle of red wine for my accountant plus a tub of Quality street and a tub of Hero’s for the girls in his office. Least I could do for them as they’ve worked right through this Covid, submitting everyone’s furlough claims for them. ;)

i used to buy my colleague (i was his manager) a bottle of Jack Daniels each year to say thankyou for all his hard work and support through the year wasn't much but makes a big difference. after 3 years on a different work event his wife told me he doesnt drink whisky and i should just get him a case of stella, i asked him the next working day about it and he came clean, said he was so thankful to get anything (previous boss didnt even give him so much as a thankyou) he didnt want to turn it down, so he got stella the following couple of years, unfortunately he left last year and i switched positions so its just me on my todd now.

my boss saw me do this and decided to copy, it was a nice gesture until i found out he only done it as he felt he ought to because i had done it to other staff, and he claimed it on expenses the tight barsteward, it kind of lost its meaning after that.
