However, to the OP, I am a bit concerned: if the wire from the water pipe connects to the gas and does not go back to the MET, then that is wrong.

For PEB's, you cannot use pipework as the conductor.

What is a PEB and what actually is the MET? I mean, physically what is a MET? Main Earth Terminal yeah I get that, but what is this to look at? In my outcupboard it just has the earth from the stop cock and the earth from the fusebox attached to what appear to be the back of the main gas pipe coming into the property.
