Why the channel illegals irritate me.....

Well you don't have to worry about that anymore do you...

For example...

"Before Brexit a lot of the UK's hospitality workforce was made up of workers from overseas, including from the EU, but hundreds of thousands of foreign workers have left the UK over the last year and it is unclear whether they will return."

"Younger working-age people in their 20s and 30s have left in the greatest numbers"

"Another problem is the number of workers still on furlough.
While they are waiting to return to work they are less willing to switch employers/employment."

You don't know anyone like that do you?
Well. I was talking to a mate today, a site electrician, and he said since all the Europeans that were ****ing up the building trade day rates have ****ed off back home, the day rates have gone up to over £200 plus for those that are still about. That’s a Brexit benefit for U.K. based workers. :)

£200 a day?

As the old saying goes, I wouldn't get out of bed for that :)

But of course higher wages means higher costs which fuels inflation...

Which hits the poorest...

Btw, when are you going back to work?

Which work? Oh, the teaching work. Maybe when the furlough finishes and the new term starts in September. If I feel like it........got enough 'other work' to be getting on with at the moment. ;)

Maybe they can speak English. Maybe they have family here already. Maybe they want their children to grow up speaking English. Maybe their parents or grandparents have some association with UK, just like political loyalty tends to be copying their peers so is wanting to be associated with a new country.
for once, I have to agree with BD - English is the Linga Franca of the world ( and much of Pan-Europe business).

You seem to have missed this DJ. Same year, ACCEPTED applications. Check out Hungary, top of your graph. Funny how things can get distorted. Eh?

I thought we were talking about the UK, not Hungary?

UK in 15th place. That's not really "everybody wants to come to the UK" is it? Far from it.

A tiny percentage of asylum seekers coming to Europe arrive in the UK.

This is what we are talking about.

Gasbanni still can't tell us, neither has anyone else offered to explain, what the legal route is to claim asylum in UK.
If there is no legal route, then all other routes are illegal. And UK has closed the legal avenues for claiming asylum in UK.
Are you saying there's no legal route to claim asylum in UK???
You need to stop taking those drugs.
I keep on saying that for your benefit.

So we can’t talk about other countries, we can’t talk about current COVID rates.
We have to talk about things which make this country look bad. Thanks for that.

Of course we can talk about other countries, I never said we couldn't. But, we were talking about the UK, not Hungary, which is why I mentioned the UK, and not Hungary...

Can you explain why this makes this country look bad? I am really confused by this statement. The thread started and then discussed why so many asylum seekers wanted to come to the UK. What I shared showed that in reality, most are not coming to the UK, but going to other countries. Are you saying the UK looks bad for having so few asylum seekers? It can't be both lots and not many at the same time.

Site electrician explains it.

Big construction sites often employed unqualified immigrants to do first fix electrics....i.e. running cables, then get in a UK qualified sparky to do 2nd Fix and testing.

I guess it's more of a common problem for tradesmen in Essex as many work in London.

But that's not true for the vast majority of regional, self employed electricians working on domestic properties....they have never dropped their prices.

Sorry Notch. Graph wasn’t aimed at you, just showing DJ how deceptive things can be.

so refugees travelling overland always raise that tricky question of why they want to specifically come to the UK

WHY DO THEY ALL WANT TO COME HERE???? BECAUSE BRITAIN IS GREAT!!!
But ... they don't all want to come here, do they? Just more lies from the anti-foreigner press.

ACCEPTED applications.
True to form, Dangee switches to some data that supports his narrative.
We talking about migrants that want to migrate to UK, not how many were successful with their applications.
