I wired the ceiling rose exactly as written and the same to the light switch and new pir light.
The light switch is a single switch and at the top of the stairs there is another switch for the same hall light
gac - the fact is that unless you UNDERSTAND what you're doing, fiddling with electrics is dangerous, possibly lethally so.
Not being colour blind and being able to read the identification on the back of switches and being able to follow "insert this wire in that hole" type of instructions does not count as understanding.
Please take some time out to learn the basics of electricity and circuits, and how domestic installations work. Get some books. Read the info in the Wiki.
When you understand enough to work out for yourself how to do it, then go ahead.
Connect the original hall wiring to one side of the switch EXACTLY as it was. The common wire is the most important one not to get wrong.
On the other side of the witch, connect your live feed to COM.
Connect the live to the outside light to the L1.
Your two new neutrals should be together in a separate insulated connector block.
If the switch happens to have a metal faceplate, you MUST make sure it is earthed.
