It's a control bus unique to Vaillant, though they did an adaptor which allowed it to connect to a standard bus system, it was never allowed to be sold in the UK.
It is not really unique to Vaillant. The physical layer was ( and may still be ) used in many applications where data and power were carried on a single twisted pair cable at 2400 bits per second.

The e-bus physical layer was derived from and is virtually identical m-bus physical layer.

There were legal problems surrounding the purchasing of a licence to use e-bus technology which was "owned" by the eBUS Interest Group
