Wireless thermostat and controller

I've been warned on here before to be careful with Ideal Logics, because there have been several different versions. So, with this mind, I thought I should just check, will a Logic of this age definitely support OpenTherm?

Thanks Jonathan, I have spoke to Ideal and they said I would need a smart bracket to work with the OpenTherm which although is an added cost, I will probably do!
However, as the OpenTherm seems more involved and I ned a boiler engineer for this, I am now leaning towards the Nest 3rd gen thermostat as It looks like this can be used as a normal wireless controller for now with on/off function and come new year get it installed to work with OpenTherm.
As I have no existing thermostat, can I still wire the Nest in easily enough, or wil I need some sort of controller?

You just have the mechanical timer built into the boiler and no other controls?

I don't know how to do this, so I'm going to tag @CBW and hopefully he might know.

Yep, can’t be done without opening up unfortunately, and on that particular boiler, the cover will form part of the combustion circuit, so needs an engineer really. The Nest can be wired up easily enough, but they’re not completely wireless, they need either an additional 2 wires from heatlink to thermostat or usb cable for charging the internal battery.

It sounds like you need an engineer anyway.
