Hello.

Would anyone be able to tell me how to wire an APT electromechanical timer. I intend to use it as a central heating timer. I dont need to be able t heat water independently. Just basic timing and on off. i understand that the power comes from the consumer unit to the timer and that I'll then take a lead from the timer to the boiler where I'll copy the wiring already there.

Will 1.5mm2 t&e be ok for the job?

I really appeciate the advice given on my queries since I joined the forum.
Thanks

The power should come from the boiler so the thermostat is de-powered when the boiler is de-powered for maintainance.

Taking the supply for the thermostat from the consumer unit would mean there could be live mains at the boiler even if the boiler is isolated by the service engineer. That could be fatal.
